Our bathroom sink has developed a bad smell, just like the odor from the gray water tank. Checked the drain and found that the connection on the tank side of the “P” trap was broken. Fixed that, but the odor is still there, appears to be coming from the sink overflow drain not the main drain. I have plugged the overflow drain and the odor is reduced greatly. The problem is, how do we clean the drain overflow passage?

Have you refilled the P trap with water/antifreeze? If not the orders will come up from the holding tank.

Yes - We are full timers and that was done within a few minutes of the fix.

You most likely have some bacteria living in the overflow pipe feasting on soap scum and other to them yummy things. 
I'd remove the drain again, block it with Saran wrap and a couple rubber bands and fill the sink with a disinfectant solution ensuring that the overflow was filled and let it sit for several hours. Drain into bucket and if possible flush overflow with high pressure city water from a hose then reassemble.

cleaning with bleach solution is good idea. I go one step further. I have a brush tool that is flexible that I run down through to scrub the gook out too. The brush tool can be found in aquarium supply areas of pet shops.
