I felt that all Forest River owners needed to see this recall notice. I hadn't seen it posted on the forums.

Thanks so much for the heads up. Of course we had to upgrade to the aluminum wheels and it was delivered in February so we will be sure to check into this! Thanks again!

Is this a defect or a tightening issue? Do the wheels need to be re torque on a regular basis if so that is common on aluminum wheels.

We didn't order ours with the aluminum wheels as I couldn't see that much benefit for over $400. The factory guy said the main advantage was better heat dispursement - is that correct?

Does anyone know if this is all tt manufactured by Forest River during 2004-2005? I just tried to call the FR number listed in the post and their business hours are Monday thru Friday 0800-1700. I guess I will have to call Monday morning. Thanks for the heads up!

I have steel wheels, and they rust. I have slow leaks on three of four wheels. I figure I will have to sand and paint my wheels at the next tire change (later this year due to age of tire). I would spring for the aluminum.

Seeing that my TT has aluminum wheels, I wonder why my dealer didn't mention this when I took delivery 3/25/05?

Called the NHTSA and asked for futher details - They said they'd have someone call me back.

Called Forest River - got a voicemail from a guy who said he was out of the office and would be back Monday (today?, next week?, next year?, 2020? who knows)

Called my Dealer - They didn't even know the Recall existed!

If anyone knows anything, please contribute.

I just talked to Mike at Forest River. He said there is NO recall, only an investigation into this problem. He also went on to say that the only model that would be affected, if this did turn into a recall, would be the ALL AMERICAN SPORT. I asked him to send me something in writing (I have a FR Rockwood 8318SS with 15" aluminum wheels, hence my curiousity!) but he said that until "corporate" released something official, he had nothing to send me.

But apparently the NHTSA website is incorrect, at least according to FR!

Just my $.02!

thanks!

I HAVE A FOREST RIVER, SIERRA,5TH WHEEL, 2004 WITH ALUM. WHEELS. I DID LOSE A WHEEL AND HAD ONLY MINOR DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL STUDS. I WAS ONLY GOING 15-20 MPH WHEN IT CAME OFF. I HAD TO CHANGE OUT THE WHEEL STUDS AND THEN HAD TO SPECIAL ORDER THE LUG NUTS FROM FOREST RIVER TO MATCH THE OTHER LUG NUTS. IF IT HAD HAPPENED 3 MINUTES LATER, I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 60 MPH, THEN THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORST.
