Neat leaves, for some reason the tree looks like it would be messy.

One would think with so many tiny leaves! But, the tree stays green year-round with it's leaves, and only drops seed pods in the Spring.

Trees are different here in the desert! The leaves are tiny to reduce water evaporation from within the tree.

Tomorrow, I'll see if I have time to focus on the Palo Verde tree! Another low water use desert dwelling tree.

Here are 3 worn out pups! They have been playing together for a few hours before I took this picture.

Left to right: Sandy, our 9 year old Norfolk Terrier. Kelsey, our 2 year old Golden Retreiver. And, Bailey, our neighbor's Pug/Beagle mix.

Why they prefer soft leather over hard tile, I'll never know!

Great mix of dogs. They look like they are best buddies.

Mars to Earth

If you look at the bottom of that page (or the link you posted), you find it was printed in the CSM in 2003.

For some reason, this gets posted every year in August. So, you didn't dream it, but someone sent you incorrect information.

You can read about it on Snopes.

Trust me on this one! I'm a long time amateur astronomer and drove several hundred miles to observe Mars at its closest back in 2003.

Thanks! Folks are always giving me bad information. It started in school. The guys would say they were gonna whoop my tail but they would punch me in the mouth instead! Have a good weekend!

Don't feel bad, Coot, someone will post the same thing again next year.

Here's a couple of my buddies setting up telescopes down at Chiefland, Florida for the 2003 Mars opposition. (Gotta post a photo!)

Well, I'm with you Marites! My subscription to PPT seems to have been lost, too. I'm resubscribing with this post. Whatever happened, I'm glad things are back to normal!

I'm not going to share the photo of your DH changing the tire on your RV with my DH: He totally DREADS any possibility of doing same! :-) Hope yours is all fixed.
