For quick set up, get one that has all external poles that the tent just snaps onto. The ones with sleeves always seemed like more work to me.

We used to own a Eureka Titan and the whole family just Loved it!
Maybe the burglar who stole it loves it now, too. We lost it to a thief a few weeks ago. It was being stored under a tarp in the woods on a piece of property that we own. It's gone now.
Who ever took it, I hope they get poison ivy on their privates!
I really loved that tent!

We had two different Eureka tents. You won't go wrong if you buy one of them. Ours have stood up to a lot of cold weather (~30 degrees) and even a tornado (touched down a half mile away).
We've had people in the middle of a rainy night come and ask if they can move in for the night. Sure, the more the merrier! After that weekend they replaced their tent with a Eureka tent.
Good luck and happy camping!

Who makes the tent is not as important as what it is made with. I have a tent for our two teenage boys to use when we are family camping with the TT. I also use it when I go out with the scouts as a leader. I wanted a nylon taffeta floor and DAC aluminum poles, I want the tent to dry fast so I can put it away and I have had to many problems with fiberglass poles. I want to be able to stand in it and I have two cots they use so they can put a clothes basket under their bed and keep the tent neat. I see it as a great asset when we are long term camping. They can sleep in late and not be in the way in the TT. We can stay up and relax after they go to thier bed. An electric lantern is also a good tent item for the teenagers, they can go read before bed in their cot. I use a Kelty Trail Dome 6 and it's a great tent. Happy Camping

AGREE with the purchase of the Eureka Tetragon 9 - superb quality for the price. We bought four last summer for a group camping trip.
Easy to set up and take down and roomy. Also Camp Mor good source along with allcampinggear web site. Do your research and compare and make sure to waterfroof any seams although here in NM we get precious little rain. We also know a source for a camping guide and outfitter in this area for anyone interested in visiting and camping in some spectacular areas. Happy Camping and Tenting!

I had mentioned earlier about avoiding the dime-store tents. I will add, however, that I've owned three; two weren't reall that bad, but one was an absolute piece of crap. I guess it just comes down to how well they're constructed.I don't care to get to my campsite in the evening and have broken zippers, etc. to contend with. For me, having a nice quality tent is worth all the extra money you pay for it.

I don't have any teenagers yet- that will be about 9 years from now- but I'm not at all surprised that they want to have separate sleeping accomodations. I suggest requiring them to research, pay for, take care of, set up, take down and 100% manage the tent.
Eureka, Paha Que, Sierra Designs are all excellent brands.

The wife and I have a 12x12 Eureka tent.
It is HUGE...about a 7 foot ceiling.
Just the two of us...but we put a big foam mattress in it.
Could set it up in 10-15 minute( after some practice)
Only hard part was reaching up to put the fly on.
Camped like this for 12 years and finally bought a popup camper.
In reality, if you get a well designed modern tent, you can probably set it up and take it down as fast or faster than a popup trailer.
Easy camping,is about planing and good equipment.( and good beer of course)
We put a plastic sheet about 8 inches smaller than the bottom of the tent under the tent, so rain won't run down and pool under the tent and put a plastic blue tarp in the tent to drag all the dirt out when packing up.
Never bothered used a tarp over the tent and never got wet, even in some truly scary thunderstorms.

I'd recommend you buy the girls a simple dome tent. I like outdoor products from Bass Pro Shops. I bought a dome tent there several years ago that I still use today. You should be able to get something for around $100 that they'd like. It will give them more room, too.

Let them buy their own tent. They can pick the size and style they like. Just make sure they seal the seams. I bought my first tent as a teenager. I bought it on sale at k-mart. When I got married and my dh camped for the first time in the rain. He was totally amazed we stayed dry. All I could say was, "I told you it doesn't leak." He had never camped before he met me. And now we are proud owners of a pop-up. We like being off the ground, but my ds & dd love sleeping in the tent, even though it's 20 some years old.
And yes, let them set it up themselves. Do a trial run in your backyard, if you have one. They have to set it up to seal the seems anyway.
Best wishes!
