When we bought our trailer we knew the tub had a seat in it and thought what a great idea. You can sit and wash your feet without having to worry about slipping around or balance on one foot. However, once we got the trailer and took our first showers we found that there is just not enough room to stand in the front 1/2 of the tub and wash easily. You end up standing right under the shower head if you're short like my wife or it hits you in the face if you're taller like me. We can live with everything else but this 1/2 tub is really starting to bug us so we thought that maybe we could have the tub changed out. Has anyone else done this and was it difficult?

Go back to the dealer you purchased the unit from and see if they have a replacement that doesn't have the step. I replaced my tub with an upgraded version of what I had...I wish I had thought to ask for a tub without that danged step. It was handy for bathing my daughter, but by the time I replaced the tub I no longer needed the step to bathe her.
You might look at Home Despot or somewhere similar for a shower pan that will fit. In my case the walls are the same all the way to the floor, or at least as low as you can go and still clear the 'stuff' underneath the tub area. It would be pretty easy to modify the tub support and the outer wall to fit a simple shower pan.
I hope I have given you enough information to understand what I am getting at here. Good luck.

I have pulled my tub out to repair it. It wasn't as hard to do as I expected. I just removed the molding around the tub. Then the screws that hold it in were exposed. I removed them, then unscrewed the drain and fixtures. I was able to get to the slip connectors of the plumbing via removable pannels in the wall. Then I was able to lift the tub out. The seat has some wood supports under it, so if you are putting in a different shape tub, some wood work will be required. There was a starafoam (I know my spelling is awful) "pan" under the tub, so a new support pan will be needed. The size of the tub will need to be the same, unless you like wood working... Good luck...

Hi CPC.
Instead of changing the tub I just changed my shower head to one with a flexible hose. Now my wife just reaches up and removes the shower head and directs the water to wherever she wants. No more wet head. Hope this helps.

Removing the tub is fairly easy, but there are a couple things to be careful of.
The tub is a snug fit to the walls, so you want ot make sure you don't scratch up the walls when you pull it out. As previously mentioned, remove the perimeter moulding held on with screws to the wall. There may or may not be a few screws behind the trim moulding fastening the tub to the walls. Remove them. The front skirt comes off with a few screws too. Mine actually had a few nails in it. The drain trap is likely held on with a threaded fitting. Remove that.
Now here is where you need to be careful. There is likely some putty tape between the tub and the walls, so you need to pull it free of that. Draw it towards you a bit, just enough to break the seal, but not far enough to mar the wall. Now lift the end of the tub straight up, using caution and watching to make sure it does not scrape against the wall at the back. You'll have to lift the opposite end to the drain, or else it will hit the taps. Once it comes up a bit, apply pressure to the lifted end wall itself. There should be some flex in it so you can push the wall a bit to gain enough clearance to avoid marking the wall. Watch the drain coupler to make sure it comes apart and does not bind. Pull away from the back wall a bit more if too close. Once clear, simply lift the tub straight up and out.

My tub is glued and screwed, but the worst part would be finding enough space to pull it out and get it through the doorway. It's NOT an easy job, and probably not worth the effort unless the tub is broken.
I like the earlier post suggesting getting a longer shower hose. You could also rig some type of pipe arrangement to move the water outlet to the opposite side of the tub. Sure, you'd be using more water (and tank capacity), but you'd solve the problem without causing a lot of expense and damage. The "arrangement" you made-up could be removed when you sell it.

I don't know about your shower. Mine is 39"x39". The aisle is 29" and the door is 27". I don't think it's coming out of there. Even if you can get it out--what a lot of work and fair amount of expense for a relatively small problem. Can you change the angle or location of the shower head to make it more comfortable?

I removed my tub, repaired it and reinstalled it. I'm not particularly handy with projects like that, but I never felt I was in over my head. BobsYourUncle and 96020051 pretty well covered the project hints and tips.
I had no choice but to remove my tub since it needed a repair. If any of the other suggestions in this thread appeal to you, I'd try them first before I changed the tub.

Another thing to check is that sometimes they have to put in a tub with a seat because the wheel well is in the way. You may want to measure the clearance of the wheel well. Good luck

I agree, check out what might be under that step first. Then check out These Guys....
I added a shower to a Coleman Santa Fe that I used to own using stuff from these guys.
Good Luck!
