Yup, busy weekend. Back to work. Trimming bushes around the house now. Flushed a baby rabbit out which ran into a corner. Fun to see the kids with the rabbit for a while before we let it go. So many around here that I might need to get the pellet gun out. Strawberries keep getting eaten but tomatoes are doing very well.

Finally got some rain. It has brought the temps down to the high 80's and low 90's. It don't get much better than this in the heat of the summer. Jim, from what I see on the tv that tropical storm is heading up the Florida gulf coast and up the eastern seaboard. You should get a sprinkle or two out of that. Hope it's not too bad. Spent the weekend touching up paint at DD#4's new house. I think it is about all done. DW took DD#2 and 4 GKs to the timeshare condo's for a before school outing. They should be back friday. Maybe, I'll try to talk her into visiting DD#2 until I got off work friday and I can take the "C" up to the campground near there and camp out this weekend. Wow....that's a great idea. Well see how everything goes during the week. Glad to see everyone is doing well.

Joe, we were hoping to get some of the rain, but, at this time, appears we may miss out on most, if not all of it, and that isn't good. Got up to 92 here today, sunny and hot, it's a bit overcast now, but no rain. They're asking people to not water their lawns and not wash their vehicles. Asking for cutbacks in the city and the county.
Looks like I won't dodge this Saturday for work. Looking forward to Labor Day Weekend, we'll be gone about 10 day's..can't wait. Hope all of you had a great day and hope your well...take care out there, believe I'm going to check out some of the Olympics.

Jim, we are with you on water restrictions. It is critical here. I havent washed my car all summer. Not that it looks horrible, but I am sure it will come. Wing, you were talking about flushing a rabbit, we seem to have aquired a rabbit that some one either released, or it is an escapee. It is a good sized rabbit, brown and white, defintely not a wild one. It seems to lurk in our side yard. I see it nibbling grass under the trees. I dont know what the poor thing is doing for water. I do put water in my bird baths, but thats too high for a bunny to jump. We dont have any dogs or cats that run loose. So maybe it feels safe here. Anyway, my family has been moving on out, the last 3 leave tomorrow, so watch out! I will be back more often.

We had a cooling period, with a little rain, but then summer came back. Set a new temp record today, 100 degrees! My cheap junk thermometer out on the deck said 104!
I'm trying to refurbish an old picnic table. I sanded the top with the belt sander, but there were still spears of wood from the weathered old boards. I found some Minwax Wood Hardener at Ace Hardware and put it on the top. It is supposed to harden softened or rotted wood. I'll let it dry for a while, and sand it, then tell y'all how it works. Pricey stuff, $12.99 for a pint can! It took 2 pints to do the top and one seat. When they say "use with adequate ventilation", they really mean use it outside! Flammable, and VERY aromatic!

Cooling around here too, high in the lower 80's. Water seems to be a problem this year, too much or too little. Overall, I think too little water will be the problem in years to come. DW is reading a book on the Ogallla aquifer. This store of fresh water covers much of the plains. I think it has enough water to fill lake Erie 8 times, or something like that. One lake Erie full has been pumped the last 50 years or so. It really can't replenish itself.
On a different note, a friend just went to Jackson Hole last month. He said he saw RV's all over the place. No one would guess gas prices are at record highs from the traffic. Diesel down to $3.99 here.

The "maiden voyage" is over, only a one-nighter. Found a leak under the kitchen sink, somewhere in the filtered water dispenser. I just took the filter out and installed the blocker line, haven't tried to find where the leak is.
Biggest problem was all the stuff we forgot to load. One would think that we have loaded up for a trip often enough, that we wouldn't forget something as basic as EGGS, fer Pete's sake, but we forgot them. Also forgot to refill the coffee can, just had enough for one pot! Forgot the drink mixes, forgot the cereal, little stuff like that. Sure, we could have driven the C up to the store, but didn't want to waste the gas or spend the money.
Other than those little problems, the rig drives great, the cruise control works, the cab air works nice and cold, the roof air works good, and the appliances all work (except for the video cassette player).
We may take a longer trip just before Labor Day. THAT weekend, we stay home!

Jon, glad to see the "over nighter" went well with your "C". Sounds like it's in pretty good shape with everything that worked well for you and the only issue being the leak under the sink...for you, that's
a "piece of cake". Take that Labor Day Weekend, you and the DW have earned it. I'm counting the day's down myself.
Thinking about "canning" the land line, cellphone service and my DSL and going back to Verizon...Just a cell phone and an air card for the puter..I'd save about $30 a month and probably wouldn't get anywhere near the telemarketer calls that I get on the land line now.
Still no rain here, bone dry...depending on which way Fay goes, we "might" get some next thursday & Friday...key word there was
"might"...At least it's cooled off some, temps. in the morning have been around 60-62 degrees with highs in the low to mid 80's.
Hope all of you had a great day...Believe I'm going to get cleaned up and hit the rack...catch y'all later.

Jon even if you forgot the basics in the food line, it sounds like you still had something to eat. Glad your test drive went well. You might check all of your couplings under the sink, and the gasket on the filter. Always good spots for leaks. Might have a crack in the filter canister also. I sure you will find it. The DW and I are starting to talk about heading out for some weekend trips in September. Weather should be starting to turn, just starting to turn means probably no more 100* temps. If we can keep it in the low 90's and below, DW might be able to handle it. She doesn't do well in the heat. Jim hope you get some rain soon. We have gotten some really needed rain here. Up North and down South of us had bad flooding but we faired alright. Hope everyone is doing well.

My gosh mower, you made out GOOD. Only a leak! you can't beat that with a stick. You must have left on your voyage impulsively. We usually forget at least one thing in the kitchen, but thats about it. Art left early this am for Bristol. I cant believe he liks sitting on those uncomfortable seats. I kinda like the sofa my self. Miss Abi started kindergarden last monday. She came here today right after she got out of school and is just full of news about her week. I am so glad she is having a good time, but my gosh, I MISS HER. My house is rather empty after all the excitemnt the last week or two. Most dinner times have had about 10 people sitting down to eat. My pantry is bare as well as my freezer. Looks like I am going to have to go grocery shopping a bit early this month. getting late here, got to hit the sheets. nite all.
