Cool here too, but the sun is shining and I think we are going to be smiled on again today. Last night art and I made an upside down pineapple cake in the dutch oven. we did it outside of course in a bed of charcoal. Saturday night we will have a group cook out at the camp out. Needless to say, we are going to make an upside down cake there. Last nights cake was the first one we have made since we did it in the scouts for Jeff. Luckily we still have the touch

Writing from pleasant Wash DC today. Here on a field trip for the kids. Doing lots of city hiking.
Mmmm, that dutch oven cake sounds really good Rosie. I might have to try that some time. I can use my portable fire pit in the back yard.
Jon, you must have some strong coffee! I tend to drink 2-3 cups a day myself, esp when I'm working.
Rob, which part of NE are you from? I'll send a PM. You can have the leave out of my yard anytime.

Just wanted to thank the members here for a very pleasurable thread which really doesn't require much moderation other than just checking in once in a while.

OH, NO, an "attaboy" from Mod!
Jim, what should we do about this? Talk about "proof of boring", this must be the ultimate!
Seriously, though, thanks, Moderator, we try!

Hey thanks Mr. Mod...Jon, guess this is a nice place for a nap..since we've painted the place and moved the furniture around, you have to admit, it made it a lot quieter around here....until the grandkids show up, but, that's what makes a house a home
Beautiful day here, Sun shining, hardly a cloud in the sky...not quite as warm as yesterday, but we'll take it. 34 degrees this morning and it's 60 degrees right now.
Counting down the day's till we leave to go to Lake Keowee in SC for Thanksgiving. I work Saturday, that'll be fun...Next Saturday, son, DIL and two grandsons are coming in Friday and will be here till Sunday, the son and DIL are going to a conference and we're keeping Grant (7) and Wyatt (2) Friday evening through Sunday sometime. We're also babysitting Miss Amber (5) and Miss Kaylee (2) Saturday..yep, planning on getting a lot of rest It ought to be fun, it's the first time we've had the two grandsons with just us for two nights and had them all for a whole day with no outside distractions...you know, their parents...Looking forward to it.
Hope all of you are well and having a great day. Believe I'm going to go out and do a little yard work...leaves are still falling and it seems the oaks are alway's last to shed their's.
take care, catch ya later...

Geeze, an "atta boy"! arent we the sweetest thangs? Honestly, it IS nice here. Everyone is respectful of everyone else. NC, you are going to have a house ful of little ones. Lucky you Our pineapple upside down cake in the dutch oven turned out great, so art is all ready to be the dessert cook this weekend. Wing, I can email you a chunk of it if you want. Abigail called me tonight, to tell me she found her Hannah Montana cd, so I looks like we are going to listen to it all the way to cheraw. SCAREY! I probably will know all the words to her favorite song before we get there.

Nothing like an atta boy.
I think we are trying to go back to summer here . It was 75 in Salt Lake yesterday, but its supposed to get colder starting tomorrow. I wish I enjoyed winters more than I do, I don't know any different, but looking forward to trying a little warmer climate in the winter.
I do have a couple projects going this winter, one is a stabilizer system for the fifth wheel, and the other, a four place tandem axle trailer for four wheelers. I have made a couple single axle utility trailers, kind of fun if you like that kind of thing.

Hey all, we also had some really nice weather yesterday and they're calling for progressively warmer temps. for Saturday and Sunday. Got up to 63 degrees Friday, with a low of 38. Suppose to get into the mid to upper 60's today and suppose to get up to 70 by Sunday...all sunny day's on top of that, with lows in the mid to upper 30's. I'm going to work on a bit of a stablizing sys. myself. Saw one where a guy used the "stops" or "adj arms" that you use when your slides are in and you use these to keep them from coming out. I've got some from another 5er I had, and it appears they clamp and lock down quite well. You use these on the front and back jacks (like one of those "strong arm" set ups)...anyway. All you really need to add to your 5er is a small plate.(bolted to the 5er) where the "support part" of the locking clamp can rest itself. Probably not explaining it very well, but the arms extend out long enough and you need 4 in the front and if you want to do the back, you also need 4 there..I just happen to have 8 of these bars. A little drilling and bolting up and it's done..going to try it, no more effort than it takes, if it doesn't work, I'll remove the 6 brackets that I'd need.
Well, I'm at work and the phone won't stop ringing..hope all of you are well and hope you have a great weekend. The wife and I will be babysitting Miss. Kaylee and Miss Amber from noon till about 6:30, (so much for a nap after work)...so, at least it'll be a pretty day for it...take care and take it easy.

Mmm, I can tast that pineapple upsidedown cake already. Surprising what can be sent through email
Another couple of days here in DC, and I am ready to get back home and back to work. Wonder if that is what retirement feels like?
Have a good day everyone!

Just a totally awesome day here...Sunshining brightly and the temp. is 74 degrees...not bad for early Nov. Hope all of you are having a great day and your all well.. Did a little cleaning up on the 5er about an hour ago...took stuff out that we won't use again until spring or so. Opened the door and a couple of windows to let it air out some. Washed the Hyundai and getting ready to eat a little lunch. It's day's like this that make it VERY HARD to try to lay down and take a nap before going to work tonight..
Y'all take care and again, have a great day....catch ya later.
