I just recieved a special service message for a "wiring fault on trailer" displayed that might be of interest to you. BTW this would be a WARRANTY issue. It says: some 2008 super duty vehicle equipped with factory TBC may have a wiring fault on trailer displayed with DTC C2806 due to water intrusion in C4099 and the round 7-pin connector used for trailer towing. Inspect connector for water and repair as necessary. It goes on to say that engineering is still investigating so there might be more to it. FWIW

Its just a bad connection in the plug. Use the plug a few times pushing in hard. It will get better.
