When the awning is all the way out it is really low and I have to duck under it. I read that the awning I have is for a Class c and that they make an awning that comes straight out from the top of the camper.
Does anyone know the number to Jayco so as to complain and hopefully get a solution?
2nd q. Doen anyone know of a fix if Jayco doesn't offer any help?
Thanks.

We're experiencing the same thing, so no real solution from me, sorry.
However, i do remember reading from someone here about how they simply didn't extend their electric awning all the way out. The "tall" one in the family stood under it & they simply stopped the awning when it was just over his head.
That's what we're gonna try.
peace & joy to you.

Yeah, if I don't extend it all the way it'll work, but that decreases the usable area under the awning. :/ I'd rather have Jayco ante up and offer to install the longer support arms to have it go straight out. Carefree awnings offers a flat out model that Jayco could have installed instead. It's my opinion that they could have prevented this with a little foresight.
Please send Jayco a complaint email from the Jayco site asking that they fix your awning as well. Here's the email link to do just that:

Maybe if we all complain, Jayco will do the right thing and fix this concern/problem.
Thanks,
Don

I heard about this problem AFTER we bought our new 19h last month. We've used it twice since we bought it, and just lower the awning enough so the valance just sticks down enough to attach the awning lights. It seems high enough for me, (6' even) and only decreases the amount of extension a couple of inches.

i've looked at that awning set up a few times...
It's not a benefit in my eyes.
There are 2 deterants to me getting an 08 trailer -
1) Interior color availability
2) that goofy awning

Today (Friday)I called Jayco Customer Service @ (574)825-5861 and they took my information for someone in the tech dept for the JayFeather line to call me back. They said it should be Monday or Tuesday.
I'll keep everyone posted, but again if you have this concern please call because there is strength in numbers.
I also sent an email to carefree asking how hard it would be to convert the steep pitch awning to a flat pitch. It would require switching out the support arms to the longer 67" version. I'm not sure why Jayco didn't do this to begin with. :/
Thanks,
Don

Don,
I don't know about your trailer, but on mine the space between the door and the awning rail is exactly 9". Carefree specifically states in their catalog Under the features and requirements for the fixed pitch awning "If mounting over an entrance door you must have at least 14 1/2" of clearance between top of door and awning rail." I am calling Jayco as well.
Edited: I called Jayco Customer Service and advised that I had researched the Carefree website seeking a way to adjust the awning as it was very low to the ground when fully deployed. I shared my findings with the CSR about the two different models on Carefree's site and noted that the flat pitch awning is described as ideal for motorhomes and travel trailers, but that the steep pitch awning is only described as suitable for taller motorhomes and 5th wheels. I also mentioned the door to awning rail clearance did not meet Carefree's specifications and explained that I was concerned that there may have been a mixup at the factory and the wrong awning was installed. Just like Don, the call is being routed to a JayFeather tech and I should receive a call within 24-48 hours.

Good luck, I complained about this a back in july when I ordered mine with all the same concerns and specs, and despite numerous calls I never get a call back. I took it cause I thought having the 2 in lift would make it acceptable but it wasn't. Does anyone have a 23B and banged the back of you head trying to latch the door?? I am a the point of calling it a safety issue also and going to my State AG to get it fixed. BTW, As per somebody I spoke with at the factory the new ones that will be coming off the line have the right (flat pitch) arms. The scissor arms are a longer and higher. The other flat pitch arms also have a auto water dump feature. Of course this just goes along with the non hi-def tv they are passing off as Hi-def.
UPDATE: After doing some surfing I found a new Jayfeather with the flat pitch awning. The arms as they are mounted on the trailer go down halfway past the top of the front storage door as opposed to above it on the steep pitch.

Various emails back and forth from a Carefree rep. Darth is correct the arm length is longer on the flat pitch model...longer arms are requires to lift the end of the awning higher to a flat pitch.
I learned from the Carefree rep that all the power awnings have the rain dump feature. The rain dump feature is that the gas shocks release the fabric and arms to dump any water pooling on the fabric. I tested this on my steep pitch awning by pulling down on the fabric...the slight pull from my hand easily pulled the fabric down. This is a great design feature that is not mentioned for the steep pitch awning b/c it's steep and water would just fall off.
