Wrong! You SHOULD grease the bars where they insert into the hitch head. You should also grease the ball. If you are using a friction sway control, you should NOT grease the slider bar but can put a small amount on the two small balls if you think it necessary. Those parts do not move very much though and do not have the high forces on them like the WD bars and the ball do.

Sorry Les, but here comes another "off topic" post. (Time for the "delete" key? )
I have been using my Hensley for almost two years now and I don't have, nor have I ever had, any BUMPaty, BUMPaty, BUMPaty,BUMPaty. If you don't have one, or have never towed with one, why propagate something that is possible but not common?

I lube the sockets the sway control fits into, and the ball, too (works well unless it gets wet). Never lube the slide mechanism itself. Mine only makes terrible noise when wet. It's funny to get the "looks" when pulling into a gas station when the Reese is wet and grinding. I'm sure the unknowing think I'm coming "undone".

You may want to go to this web site:
Better than a Hensley Arrow!!
Some of the people from Hensley are making a new hitch, it is selling for about $2000...much cheaper than the Hensley, and as I understand it the BUMP has been engineered out.
I would guess this may leave the original Hensley Arrow hurting...I'm sure it will drop the value of the existing Hensley hitchs.

[b][red][i]Stay on topic people - I do not care to see this turn into another Hensley VS every other hitch thread... On topic or the post is gone!!!
This was the OP's question:
"I have a Reese friction sway controller. It makes a lot of awful noises every time I turn. Is there any other sway controller that is not so noisy?"
