I use marine type LED lights with built in switches and 12 LED's that are available from Bass Pro, Cabela's and Randy at Best Converter.
I have been using them for more than a year with no problems and great results.
I can light the whole camper for less than 0.5 amps.

and a 6 LED strip

Just follow the pictures!

Cut through ceiling material carefully... watch for wires, use no drills at all.

This is 2 wire stuff.... LED's only work when wired one way... if your don't light when you are hooking them up... switch connections.
Black goes to white, red goes to black.
Use the blue quick connectors that you see in the previous pictures. Buy them where they sell trailer lights or HomeDepot or Lowes or even WalMart.

My thoughts are "Do not replace any of your existing lights if they have switches." Just add these along side. Switch on only the lights you need. If connected to shore power use the original lights for there extra light. When you are doing what we do best... boondocking... use the LEDs all of the time.
They have 10,000 hours of expected life and 10 years I believe. I have already used mine for a year.
I could find them at "marine stores" most of the time but had to make long trips.
I phoned Randy at bestconverter.com and asked him to carry them. He was extra helpful when I was putting in out TriMetric... now we have a source.
link with pictures and prices
While some will fuss about the prices... remember these have built in switches, a nice housing, and you don't have to experiment any longer! Easy to install, easy to use, and very easy on the batteries!
You have just enough time to get your special one a few for Valentines Day.
I'll post more pictures later of other sucessful installations that I've recently done.
Hope you enjoy.

Notes:
0.08 amps... WOW!
I can only recommend this brand... before I got these it was always an experiment.
Avoid the same brand ROUND LED lights with 8 LEDs... they don't give you as many Lumens and I can't vouch for them. The strip Led's with 6 or 8 LEDs work great.
I have installed some of the same brand with 18 LEDs in the same neat round housing but haven't gotten a report back on how they are working. They must be doing fine... since I haven't heard anything.

Sleepy,
Very impressive, and thanks for posting this. Just yesterday I ordered 2 Group 27 Lifeline AGM batteries, but this may be a more efficient solution. Don't buy more power, just use less. As they say in the Guinness commercials "Brilliant"!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Sleepy, I just ordered 2. They look like they will do a good job for my boondocking summers.

Nice job and good write up.
Some additional info, for those that don't want to add another separate light there are LED strips that can be run down the center of a fluorescent fixture.

Good job, I'm going to check them out. I'm still looking to do the LED upgrade, just haven't decided when.
Love the step by step photos.
This should be in the TC University Sticky.

Sleepy- you have been holding out on us- great job! I guess that you wanted to be able to validate your install- and we all know that you use your TC. Any guess how many hours you have on the LED's at this time? Do you have enough light to read?
Thanks
