We have a Northern Lite 10-2000 that came with an 13,500 btu AC unit, for a few reasons We have decided to remove it.
1) Our Honda will run this unit but a smaller 8000 or 9000btu unit would be our choice if I put another one back on.
2) I store the camper inside our barn and the camper is just a bit too tall to go in the barn on the truck, this will help but not the whole answer.
3) in the last two years we have only used the air twice.
Here's a photo of the unit as is

first turn off the circuit breaker for the AC
remove the vented panels, gently squeeze the tabs and wiggle while pulling.
Remove the wiring harness by squeezing the tabs and pulling straight out
remove the control knobs by pulling straight out, you may need help from a flat screw driver.
with the panels removed you'll see four screws holding the plastic unit to the ceiling and four to the metal frame, remove all of these and put the case out of the way.
This is what is left, the box on the right is the electrical junction box. Open the box by removing a couple of screws and pull out the wires, remove the wire nuts, loosen the supply wire retaining clamp and pull the supply wire out and place the wire nuts back on the supply wires. Put the other wires back in the junction box and replace the cover and screws.
On my unit there are three bolts securing the inside bracket to the outside unit, remove all of these.
Set the bracket aside
I than went outside and carefully rolled the unit over onto it's top, I had a piece of plywood in place so I could slide it over to the ladder. Than I just slid it down the hand rails of the ladder and onto a shop cart, where I re-assembled the pieces. (Beware, these units are very heavy)
This is what I am left with, I will be installing a regular vent cover shortly.
Before anyone asks, this unit was sold on craigslist before I would remove it from the camper.

Good pictures on you removal of your AC unit. The only thing is I hope you not storing AC unit upside down as shown in the last picture in you posting. Leaving the unit that way can destroy the compressor,many small unit compressors are suspensed by springs latched to open hooks inside the casing. Leaving the unit that way could cause one or more of the springs to unlatch, otherwise a nice job.

I too would be concerned turning the unit upside down. I would be surprised if it is not already damaged, hopefully not. I suggest turning it right side up, and plugging it in, before you sell it. If not, you may have an unhappy customer from craigslist.

I flipped it over and waited for 45 minutes, wired it up and tested it, all is well.

Love the pics.,for the other TC enthusiasts out there, would you make a series of pictures of your (camper cart) it looks like you have a steering tongue on it like a wagon (little red except bigger), is it a bolster type or is it set up like the steering on a vehicle?
My feet are fine as long as they are traveling.

Hey Spott, nice work. Can I ask you what you got for the AC? You can PM me if you'd like...but I am thiknking about doing the same thing, and like you, for a variety of reasons, but mostly height. It would be nice to be below 13' tall!
