Hi,

I've been reading here for a long time, but this is my first post. I'm heading to Suwannee River State Park (in FL) this weekend, and I'm a bit nervous about the site notes listed on Reserve America. The following statement is posted :

"No fifth wheel motor homes, motor coaches or buses. They will have extreme difficulities maneuvering into this site"

I have a 28' (Tounge to bumper) TT and I'm wondering if I'm going to have trouble getting into the site. I've always thought that a 5er is more maneuverable than a TT, so I'm a bit concerned. The max vehicle length for the site is listed as 40'. Has anyone camped at site #4 at this park? If not, has anyone been on a site with a similar advisory?

Thanks for the help.

We stayed at the Stephen Foster Folk Center in March 08, was really nice with large sites, really beautiful place, just did not have sewer, it is located on the Suwannee River also... Sorry I can't help on the Suwannee River Park.

Thanks mytime...we are hoping to visit Stephen Foster SP, but sites are really tough to get this time of year in the State Parks on short notice.

Well....the weather didn't cooperate as it rained most of the weekend. Also, the mosquitoes were bad enough to pick you up and carry you away. So, since the weather was pretty bad all weekend, we didn't get out much. The park was very quiet (other than the 3 or 4 times per day that the train went past).

The campground itself has recently been redone. The campground road is paved, and they have 50Amp service and Sewer at each site. The placement of the sewer outlets was a bit odd on some of the sites as it was well forward of the power pedestal. I have a 10' sewer hose and was unable to reach from where I parked the camper. Most of the sites are pretty close together, and there isn't a whole lot of privacy, and the campground road is pretty narrow. However, I did see several big 5ers in there so I guess it isn't too tight. You might want to check with the ranger station when you get there about the availability of the handicapped sites. I believe there were 3 of them (#1, #3, and one in the 20s if I remember correctly). These sites are completely level and paved. While we were there the campground was completely full except for 2 of the handicapped sites. Hopefully this will give you some idea, but if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer those.

Another warning for you. Call and check the site before you go. Reserve America has the old site map and site info. When they renovated the park they kept the site layout the same but renumbered the sites. We reserved a site plenty big for our 30' TT but when we got there we had a site that could barely fit a tent...

Head ranger was useless and made no effort to help. I went the wrong way around the circle, pulled into a site across from ours and were able to back into our site but we couldn't open our awning and had to Camp behind the trailer since there was no room to even set up chairs on the side.

We were really annoyed with the ranger in charge when a tent camper pulled up into the big site across from us. All he had to do was switch sites and there would be no issues.

The head ranger here was totally useless.

When we left I had to wait for the campers across the road to leave first so I could use their site to get out.

Onthe plus side it is a very pretty campground.
