Hello,

I am trying to find the smallest window A/C unit made. I have a very small window opening 15"W x 12"H...anyone have any ideas? I do not want to cut any holes in my TC or put in a roof unit...I will only need it 4 or 5 times a year. Portable A/C unit is an option I have been considering, but I would rather have a small window unit.

Thanks

I would suggest going to Walmart or some other discount store and look at some of their units. A 5,000 BTU unit is the smallest I've seen and it was pretty small but I have no idea what the dimensions would be. Good Luck in your endeavors.

Find a manufacturer & visit their website. They often have specs for individual models. See GE's website - they have many models with dimensions given.

Or - see what's available at your local Wal-mart, open the box & measure it.

My Northstar TC800 has a small ~5000btu GE air conditioner.

If you can find an extra half inch in width this one will work.

I got a 6500btu ac from Walmart in mine...17 1/4 by 11 1/2. A 5000 btu might be smaller but if U had to U might take an inch off each side.

There is a marine type unit built by Marine Air (M/N CO-7000) that is designed as a portable unit. It fits through the hatch on a boat but would also fit through one of the roof vents as well. You put it in place when you need it and store it out of the way when not required and you don't have to subject your TC window to the strain of supporting a unit
I saw one at West Marine. Looked pretty good. I think there my be one for sale on Ebay or Craigslist but can't remember.

Looks like a swamp cooler that you fill with ice. Not a real A/C. But, not do a pinch if you're sitting in front of it!

There are a number of small suitcase style AC units that just run a hose out the window to work.

Got any links for those - or just one example?

I'd be very interested.
