Do you think it is time for a Class Action Lawsuit against Dometic. I ran the issue up the ladder, 4 levels, at Dometic and kept getting the run around. They told me after the warrenty ran out and the coils broke that if I didn't have an extended warrenty, they would not fix the broken coils. This is rediculous!!!!

What does all think. Maybe Good Sam will step up and discuss this with Dometic. I beleive Dometic should replace all coils that break no matter how old the unit is. The coils are DEFECTIVE!!! Its just a matter of time when they break and cause serious damage or someone gets killed.

I am in the same boat. My unit is 4 months outside of warranty and they will not replace the cooling unit that failed due to their design flaw. At this point I will not purchase anything the has dometic name on it ever again!

We got a letter about two weeks ago for our Forest River Wildcat. Called a local dealer, not our selling dealer, no problem, it's getting fixed Aug 4.

We never recieved a recall but checked the site and our fridge was included in the recall. We had the shield installed in May. The dealer had a box of packages for the recall and mentioned they do a couple a week.

Had mine done last week, *****ed and complain and dumbmatic pay to have a on site repair guy install the "fix". he said that dumbmatic only pays $40.00 labor for the recall.

You would think after almost 10 years that they could redesign the cooling system.

I think it is about time for a "class action suit against Domatic and Norcold" and I am not one to think that law suits solve anything, but when a big manufacting company continuly put people in harms way then it is time to get their attenion

my gripe is why do we the rv owner have to take the time and effort to haul our rv to a dealer for a repair that is been going on for years? yes things happen and you have a recall for something, but this problem with domtic and norcold is a never ending problem let the manufactors redisign the cooling system and make a perment fix. If they do't and doesn't look they will then someond should file a class action suit and make the fix it right.

I received notification of the extended Dometic recall from Escapees RV Club on July 29th. My fridge is on the list. I've made an appointment at Camping World in Burlington, WA for Aug.12th for installation of the SBH kit. We'll see how it goes.

It appears that there is more competition needed in the RV refrigerator manufacturing business!!!

When we received the recall notice Dometic gave me a few service centers in the area to call to schedule the 15 minute appointment. The first 3 that I called said that they were booked for 3 months and to call someone else. In otherwords, the $40 payback from Dometic isn't worth their time. Hooking up and pulling the 5er (in traffic) to a small neighborhood fix-it shop is a hassel. We found someone to do a mobile service for $25 - well worth it....even though Dometic won't pay for the service call (and they should!!!!).
