Just tell Dometic that you have to pay someone to move the rig and they will approve the mobile on site fee.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had made an appointment with Camping World in Burlington, WA to have the "SBH kit" installed. This was done by them in less than an hour on the 12th.
This might keep my RV from catching fire in the event the refrigerator fails, but does nothing to fix what may be a defective refrigerator in the first place. So, if it fails, I'm "on the hook" for a new one. You would think that for the price both Dometic and Norcold get for these things, they could do a BETTER engineering job. As I stated before, more competition is needed.

Boy I have to say that I agree on all accounts here. If they will not come to the plate and make a safer product, then maybe it is time that they were forced to make one. From what I have read this has been going on for far to long (7 yrs?)

I had the burner element on the Dometic malfunction, had the Dometic recall enacted, and changes made. Service man charged me 30 for heating element and 60 for the call. said not included in recall price.

Yesterday I got in contact with Dometic about getting the SBH kit and we established a ID # and they will send me a packet to get the repairs done. I asked about their paying for the trip costs for an RV repair person (60 mi r/t) since I can't move my RV. They will pay for about the first $60 unless I complete more paperwork to go to their corporate office for the difference (takes 2-3 weeks). I did sign up for that, too, but they require three quotes for this trip fee, and the dealer that "won" is not my choice to do the work....that is where things stand now.

My Dometic frig had the work done a couple of days ago to fix what was recalled.
Gibbs RV in Coos Bay, OR came to Bandon, OR (about 60 miles round trip) to do the work.
I paid nothing for anything. All the travel charges were paid by Dometic.

Wow! I just got my letter yesterday. I'm taking ours to the dealer on monday am. She said I wouldn't even have to unhook, she would have me out in less than 20 minutes.

Just to clarify - a recent poster said they got a letter from Dometic - I was told I would get a packet in the mail but none ever came. HOWEVER, I did get a phone call from Dometic telling me to contact my local RV tech (Gibbs in Coos Bay, Oregon) to arrange for a time for the tech to come to Bandon where I live.
This did happen and as my recent post states the job got done with no cost to me.
My point is that you might or might not get a letter or other info in the mail from Dometic.
Sorry for those of you who didn't get all costs paid. I sure would contact Dometic and ask why some of us did and some of us didn't. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Nowadays you have to raise some Cain to get what is truly yours.

Just have to laugh a bit. We read about the recall on this forum. We called the dealer where we bought our previously owned fifth to ask about the recall/fix. Never received a reply back. In the meantime, DH fried a number of appliances with a wrong hook-up. In the process of finding replacements, the dealer we contacted said we really did need to put in the 'fix' as our 07 Challenger was on the recall list. This was done 2 months ago. Yesterday, we received the recall notice from Keystone. Just proves the owners are more savvy than the manufacturers at times. kaykaydee
