OK. I am finally fed up with the Concertone Reciever.

Is there anyone who has replaced theirs yet with something that actually works?

I am in the process of looking for something to fit in the slot and I will re-wire the whole system.

I just replaced my Concertone model 500 with a 600. Time will tell if there is an improvement.

I saw this unit in some new 5'ers I recently looke at so it might be a viable option:

I installed JVC head unit desined for cars. my neighbor who has a side buisness doing just about anything with wood built me a nice wood panel to cover up the Concerthole! and I was able to install the JVC radio. I also wired up my small amp to run the 2 subs in the ceiling. the radio sounds worlds better than the Concertjunk that was in there. and it only cost me $100 to do it!

Here are a couple of pics.

This is the wood panel my neighbor did. the JVC has a CD player and a remote.

Since the radio does not have speaker switches for inside/outside speakers I installed the Radio Shack push on/push off switches to turn the outside and inside rear speakers on and off. when set for outside speakers I just fade the fronts out and use just the rear output for the outside speakers.
