Don’t forget the “something new in, something old out” rule. If you buy something new, something old has to go because of weight and room.

We were going to Isle Royal in lake superior one year....It was a diving trip with 5 of my buddies...We knew the shower on the Island were pay showers so we stopped at a casino on the way up to get change...Now this was 6 guys (all wearing camo) walking into a casino...we walked in and then right to the casher booth....would not you know is was in the back of the casino.....got our change and then walked out.....never spent a dime on the slots tables or anything.......The security was so freaked by the time we hit the front door we had 4 guys flowing us and out side another 2 watched us get into the van and then got in a car and flowed us to the marina.....
Moral of this story
never take 5 close friends (all in camo) to a casino to get change.
That is totally halarious and I bet you and your friends still laugh about it. Probably not real funny when it happened though.

You got that right. What people haven't caught onto yet is that to a fulltimer, quarters are worth about $0.50 maybe $0.75 each.
I carry spare change when going to the store. Pennies, nickles, dimes. The point is when I buy something I plan the cash I hand them so I'll get quarters back. Three quarters returned is the jackpot.
rockhillmanor wrote: So IMHO there should be a warning posted somewhere that you need to have a ton of quarters with you at all times, when heading out as a full-time RV'er
There should at least be a dedicated compartment in all RV's somewhere that is designed to carry at least 5 lbs of quarters. Put quarters in the top slot, flip the lever and get 4 quarters out at a time.

And.... I'm sure if they did get stopped and questioned by our new patriot act enforcers, telling them you were 'getting quarters for the showers', most certainly would not have been accepted as an appropriate answer to them!.

You folks don't have it so bad with the quarter thing. Up here in the Great White North, quarters are almost extinct. Everything is a "loonie" ($1.00) for laundry, or shower, $2.00 for dryers, and in Calgary close by, a quarter would buy you about 12 seconds on a parking meter.

One quarter won't buy anything down here, either. Last time I did laundry in an RV park laundry, it was $1.50 a load. In quarters, of course.

That's why I love my washer/dryer on board. Whenever we can't use them, I have to scrounge for quarters. Normally don't need them.

I still grumble every day in the shower. I miss my long showers, but I do feel "greener" than before because of the water/energy conservation.
We were curious how our marriage would evolve, as we are SO opposite in habits, pastimes, and interests. Fulltiming cemented us, sort of forced us into considering our partner's wishes more consistantly.

After we got our new 5er that had a usable w/d, I had lots of extra quarters. But we still need them for washing the Truck, unexpected Toll roads or a local newspaper. We get monthly meds so have plenty of free containers. We now use those as our Quarter holders stuffed into the glove box or center console for any Quarter Emergency.
