"Walmarts are there for locals, just because people live in the area, is no indication there is a campground even close. In fact, the approx 400 Walmarts where NO overnight is allowed, is due to local campgrounds that lobbied to have overnight parking banned."
Ah,I guess you are trying to confirm my point. 400 Wally worlds with local campgrounds in competition.

Actually, you assume too much.
Far from all of them have campgrounds nearby, much less than 10% when you could Walmart, Supercenters, Sams, and the Satellite stores.
Some owners of campgrounds protested the law when the towns were considering them. In others they were in effect before Walmart ever had a store there. Basically it was the KOA campgrounds which promoted the laws. (Id not stay in a KOA, if they let me stay free.) Others said they were nearly always full, and some were membership campgrounds, who testified those staying in Walmart, could not stay in them. More of the Walmarts are in Malls or Leased property, so the managers can not give permission for RVs to overnight. Walmart gets a lot of business from RV'ers, so have been expanding on the RV supplies they carry. Many from 1/4th of a section to one or two complete rows of stock.
