This article Right's primarily address "Motorhome Rights" but, I believe it can possibly apply to others. Several states are attempting to get their taxes due from residents. Makes a person wary of avoiding home state taxes.

My immediate reaction is "What else is new?". Tax evasion is one of the oldest forms of participatory citizenship in America.
Obviously, some states simply charge too much for registering vehicles driving some to evade taxes.
Maybe the residents of Colorado should be asking their legislature what makes Colorado and Colorado roads so much better than Montana and Montana roads.

Some people don't know the difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion. The former is legal; the latter is not.
I say, "Three Cheers for Colorado for catching the crooks."
And a "Hiss, Boo" for those who try to re-assign the blame to other than the perpetrators.

I will merely state that I was an independent small business man for years. We know a thing or two about "tax avoidance" and all the reasons why we should. I don't "blame" anyone or anything--what is, is.

Did you READ the whole article? I suppose the American colonists of old should have just bent over for the tyrannical British government long ago. Government in America at all levels is OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!! Corruption, NO leadership, career politicians who are ONLY interested in staying in power, cataclysmic gov't WASTE, WASTE, WASTE, etc. If anyone can find a way to prevent biggov from squandering THEIR money in an ENDLESS appetite for MORE & MORE, I say MORE POWER TO THEM!! What a nation of sheep we've become. "Perpertrators" my ***. When are the people (LIKE ME) who've WORKED and PAID TAXES for years and NEVER TAKEN GOV'T HANDOUTS going to take back control of our great country from a runaway SOCIALIST system? Yeah, I'm just a BIT of a Libertarian, "don't tread on me" type. Rant over.

Yep, and I also read this: "Colorado officials say residents who do not register their RVs in their home state are cheating residents out of much needed tax dollars." But, more importantly, I believe that I also understood the article. The culprits pled guilty. What they did was illegal and robbed other citizens of legitimate funds for services rendered by the state.
What you're bringing into the arena is another scenario entirely.
And guess what?! I agree with most of what you said.
But, they're still perpetrators! And guilty ones at that!

Sure they pled guilty. Probably to avoid even worse punishment.
They didn't "rob" anybody. They merely attempted to avoid being robbed themselves and (unfortunately) they failed.
How am I bringing something else into the arena? Are we as a people not now taxed now even more than the colonists and with arguably even less representation?
I mean no personal offense against you. You have a right to your opinion and have just as much right to express it on here as I do.
Sorry, but I'm WAY past having any respect for biggov. They don't have any right to expect it from any of us anymore. Surely you must realize that a whole lot of those "legitimate" funds for "services" rendered by the "state" probably aren't all that legitimate at all.
Anyway, peace and blessings to you. This conversation has been stimulating (where did I put my blood pressure pills?).

Quote from the article
Quote: Denver resident who buys a $150,000 motorhome could pay nearly $15,000 in sales tax, ownership tax and registration fees for the first year of ownership.
Initially I thought if Colorado residents don't want to pay the tax, they should move to Montana. But after reading this, they are getting screwed. So they arrested 22 of them. And they will pay up. OK. Fair deal. And the other 100,000 are OK for now. If they get caught, they will pay what they owe. But chances are they will skate off. And good for them.
They are not cheating other tax payers. They are rewarding a state that wants their business. And by doing that they are not paying their money grabbing legislators. This is the only way they have of protesting. Good for them.
