I don't think its priced to high. I've seen the factory built ones at RV shows and they are close to his price and not nearly as nice. They obviously put alot of thought and love into building this TD...it shows in every detail and their craftmanship is undeniably 1st class. I would love to own it if I were still able to get down low enough to get into it. I think its fabulous and very well loved and cared for.

This pop up type of tear drop seems like a better idea and has the A1 quality as well. Can also be stood up in and can be towed by a 4cyl vehicle.

As the past owner of 7 off the line manufactured RVs of different types, we are in the process of gathering materials to build a small TT from plans from Glen-L. I am still laughing over someone thinking one of those entry level RVs will still be functional in twenty years - what a sense of humor! Cathy

Our 1st travel trailer was what you call an entry level model. Aluminum skin, 2x2's stapled together, and the lowest cost unit for the size, floor plan. We kept that trailer 16 years, lived in it for 2 years, hauled it to Florida many times, to southern Ca once, and used it most weekends in the summer. Our 3 sons did what boys do, and we still sold it when done. It was still road ready, fridge worked, as well as everything else, I did make some repairs to it over the years. A blower motor and ignition control for the furnace, a new water heater, and a pump were the most major things. So yes I do believe an "entry level rv" will last 20 years. The cushions, drapes were wearing thin, we wanted a slideout, the roof had a small leak, and we just wanted a new unit is the reason we traded.

2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. Well not to make a contentious matter worse - but it is pretty pricey.

It's like having the nicest house block, complete with granite countertops and a built in swimming pool, in a blue collar neighborhood. It may really have cost $18k between time and labor, but it will be difficult to sell.

Having said that, I see that it says "sold." How much did he get?

Do I wade in... Why not, it's Friday!

Comparing this tiny custom teardrop to a big production travel trailer is a bit like comparing a Mercedes SL to a minivan. Both cars are perfectly decent transportation; the minivan holds three times the passengers for a third the cost. The SL has just a tad more style though.

Regarding lifespan- a garage kept trailer will last a long, long time. A teardrop is a lot easier to fit into the typical urban garage than a TT. It also doesn't require the sort of tow vehicle that even a small TT needs. I'm betting that selection of tow vehicles for big trailers that also make good family cars is going to narrow down in the future.

this post can be closed . The owner of this trailer sold it to a person who appreciates the craftsmanship and effort that went into the design and construction of it. and yes, it sold for very near the asking price.
I am sure the new owner will enjoy it for years to come.

as an aside, Many people who have owned "palaces on wheels" have moved on to Teardrops. Tiny trailers with a large comfortable bed inside, a kitchen behind a rear hatch, and a world of friendly people outside.
do I miss cable tv, black water tanks and stuff that always seem to break at the wrong time?? Not a bit!

Craftsmanship like that is priceless. If he could get $25,000.00 he would still be underpaid. There are still some people that appreciate quality and there are those that think the "Indiana" junk is great. I have one of the "junk" ones because thats all I can afford.
