Hello everyone! Just wondering If anyone has any suggestions for Campsites along lakes in PA. We just went to Otter Lake Camp Resort and we loved it! We want to go back, but the week we can go is booked. Are there any, similar to that one (with lake front spots) that are just as nice? Thanks so much!
Also, if anyone has opinions about "Lake In Wood Resort" in PA, i'd love to hear them! Thanks!
Andrea

Wow! That is a pretty big/general request. Many of the State Parks in PA are on lakes or within rock throwing distance. You also have places like Lake Raystown in Central PA with both COE and Raystown Resort on the lake. A lot of it depends on what amentities that you are looking for and how far you want to travel.

Thanks for replying! I know, sorry. After being parked right on the lake at Otter Lake, we got spoiled and really loved that atmosphere! It was great waking up in the morning, still in our PJ's and fishing!! Same thing with at night. It was beautiful & so peaceful. I guess we'd like to stay in the eastern part of PA. Otter Lake was only an hour away from us (we're in NJ) so the closer the better (being we have an infant with us). Thanks for writing back, i'll check out the places you sent!!

Not in PA - but you could try Spruce Run in NJ has some lakefront sites - but there are only a few so, getting them on the day that you want may be tough.

Pinchot State Park in York county has lakefront sites. Cowenesque Corp Of engineer park in upstate PA has a limited number of waterfronts. Raystown Resort has some.

Lake in wood is A Nice CG weve been there just make sure you have some extra leveling blocks the sites that we have been on were NOT level, and they were pullthrus, Getting prefered sites on short notice is A chore, most people reserve them far in advance,
Good luck and Happy Camping!!!!

Otter Lake is our first trip of the season, usually mid April, its a very nice campground. Like a few posters said, most of our state parks have lakes within a stone throw.
We camp alot in the Lancaster area, and stayed at many of the campgrounds there, but never stayed at Lake in Woods, we usually stay at Red Run.
We actually are staying there this coming weekend, leaving Thursday morn, hoping to eat at Shady Maple for supper and do the Green Dragon farmers market on Friday, lots to see and do in Lancaster.

You should look into the PPL (power company) owned campsites around Lake Wallenpaupack. Also, Promised Land State Park is nice and has campgrounds, a sand beach, lots of trails, etc.

There also is Locust Lake state park. The lake front sites are not right on the lake but very close. Also a really neat paved road for bikes and walkers. No autos except across the breast of the dam.
