Another bad thing about pines like that (we have similar ones here in the South called loblollies) is that they are top heavy. It doesn't take much to make one of them fall over. While the pine trees like that are pretty, they don't make good 'yard' trees.

We owned property in south central VA...covered in pines. These trees fall all of the time, their root system is quite shallow, especially in sandy type soils. We made sure only good hardwood trees, which have a much stronger, deeper root system, were within reach of the house and RV...because this type of incident was our "worst nightmare"!
