Horseplay; I for one thank you for your time. I've been looking ofr an outside shower and after your write up am going to try the Paha Que teepee. It sounds like the DW wouldn't have a problem showering in it and the GK's will love it!

Wow, why do you suppose I get the idea that some people who answered my thread are a bit touchy?
I only asked my question on this forum because I thought someone might have a better idea, but I find you don't have a better idea just a more expensive idea.
The mention of buying a full sized tent was not to sleep in but rather just to shower in. Your suggestion of spending well over $150 for a 4x4 tent [and that is exactly what it is] Made no sense when I could buy a 10X10 tent for less money and have a dressing room thrown in.
I'm sorry maybe I'm wrong, but I get the impression that maybe my idea of buying a full sized tent would have been more acceptable to you, if it had been your idea.
And by the way I don't tent camp anymore, I motor home. I gave up tent camping before you were born, probably even before your pa was born.
I hail from Montana and do my RVing here. In the west [ not the California west] We don't waste any water when out in the dry country we use it to irrigate what ever may be growing nearby. I have yet to see a plant that suffered from a little soap in the water. In fact soap is a well known bug repellant for plants.
GOODBYE!!!

Kamper_Kelly:
I apologize, I didn't mean to insult you. Some people sweat more than others, and I couldn't go that long between showers. I have camped with others that THINK they don't smell! LOL NOT FUN for the rest of the group! I am female, and nope, not at my stage of life!

We camp alot, and it pays off real quick. Most times on the coast here, don't need the Zodi anyhow, the water is fine by the eve just from the heat of the day, but is nice to heat it up when in the mountains. Yes, a pot on the stove or fire would heat up fine but is easy to turn knob and hit with a flame right where the water is. Sounds like a lot of effort, but is longer to write it seems, but is well worth it. I don't set up the shower tent if just overnighting... I take my chances in the evening....just watch out for those flashlights!

davidj54: The tee pee is nice. I still am holding onto mine....even though I don't use it much anymore...but just in case!

There are reasons these are "shower tents" Designed for the job. The floor in the Cabelas has drainage mesh on three sides of the floor, and the Teepee has a removable floor, but it's edges are rounded onto the ground to help with buggies. There are clear panels on roof rain fly for heating solar showers. There are built in pockets to hold stuff. The zippers actually work. Top is mesh for release of heat/moisture, but have the rainfly that keeps the heat in on chilly eves.

As for the drain/gray water drainage I am green, but not anal about it. I camp on the coast, or up in the mountains mainly where the "gray issue" is reasonable and uses common sense. I have been on a few threads here that get all bent out of shape about a little soapy water and think the drinking water is going to be all polluted and it really isn't hurting the environment.

I could go on about quality vs quantity....by purchasing low grade merchandise and have to then purchase with education behind you...For what one has already invested/wasted ($70?)...and now thinking that purchasing a full size tent is a good idea ($35 for cheap tent)...is pretty much what a quality shower set up would have cost-minus the zodi....

So now...if one looks at decent tents that don't leak and zippers work and their pricing? Uh uh... Age has nothing to do with wisdom. No spring chick. When posing a question on a tenting forum when one has a RV but doesn't state the need?...guess one needs to be a mind reader.

Horseplay, No worries.

Les, You posted on the tent section of the forum. Why wouldn't we think you were a tent camper? You received detailed, helpful suggestions but, you're angry that they weren't for something cheap. If you read posts on this forum you will see that many of us are of the mind that you get what you pay for.

Now that we find out that you're an RVer I'm even more confused as to why you need an outdoor shower.

To answer Kamper Kelly, the reason an RVer needs an outdoor shower is because not every RV has a shower. There is a shower hookup with hot water on the back of our tent trailer. When we camped for a few days without available showers, it was very nice to be able to soap and rinse outside, especially considering I'm camping with two teenage boys and a husband. I am now looking for some way to afford a little more privacy for a more thorough cleaning outside. I'll check into some of the ideas posted here. With this little problem solved, we'll be able to camp at some of the more rustic sites and still have the little conveniences at hand.

We've thought of getting some sort of 'shower tent' for the outside shower on the side of our travel trailer. It would be nice to shower off the kids(or self) using this shower so we don't fill our grey tank.

I use a coleman hot water system. Usually I have a water faucet for my site and I hook up the adapter to warm the water. I can always take a military shower with the five gallon tank the unit comes with also.

Gray water?? I think people get too crazy about this issue. Do it at nite and you won't have to worry about the others. I hate trying to sleep all sweaty and dirty.

Cheap method for remote camping....... 1 bottle of water, 1 rag, 1 container of baby wipes, 1 bottle of baby powder. Wet rag with water and wipe off body, once that is done, wipe down with baby wipes. Then spread baby powder over body. You smell good and feel refreshed with no gray water, just trashed wipes. Plus you can keep on necessary clothes if done outside or do it inside tent, up to you.
