I was looking up places to camp and noticed that one of the private campgrounds rented tents with an A/C unit attached. I found this interesting.... Anyone ever done this??

I don't tent camp but I have seen quite a few tenters do this. It seems that they just use a small window unit and set it up on a 5 gallon bucket or an old milk crate and them blow it into the tent. not sure how they have that as I never have had a chance to look close. But you can bet they are cool....LOL Happy Trails

I did it once starting out as a joke, but it worked out really well. Set it on a milk crate and duct taped it into the tent doorway and ended up freezing my tail off.

Long story short....we spent most of our summer without our central a/c - not because of our unit so much as the hvac repairman didn't know as much as he should. We are finally up and running, but during the down times, we bought a small window unit so we could stand to be in one room of the house. We may just have to try this out! I love tent camping...just don't like the heat and humidity. This may be one way I can camp during the summer!

Thanks for the links!!

Its amazing the size of air conditioner that will cool a tent to a frosty level. You will think at night that your camping in the winter when its the middle of the summer. lol

Do you mean amazing how small an A/C will cool a tent, or amazing how big a unit it takes?
