It doesn't look like high fuel prices are keeping anyone home! Of course, it is less expensive to drive than to stay and heat a home all winter. . . and a lot more fun!

Departing 5 November. Entering Mexico at Nogales. Destination Las Peñas, Michoacan. Plan to return to USA maybe in 2011, or 2012 but more likely in 2015.

Howdy Baboo.
We are planning on leaving Delta in mid Oct. if we can get our ducks all lined up. Plan on heading to Oaxaca this year and then to Perula.
See ya there.

Leaving around 20th Pct this year for Outdoor Resorts Palm Springs via Grand Canyon. Should be crossing into Mexico aorund 15 Dec heading for Guad but taking a nip into Rocky Point first. Where is the best place to cross if heading to Rocky point first.

Best and fastest is to cross at Lukeville Az for Puerto Penasco. Don't bother with the vehicle permit ast it's not required for Sonora State. HOWEVER when going on to Guadalaraja, you will need to stop on Mex 2 (I think Kilometer 21 or something close) which is on your way anyway, for the vehicle documentation.

Great info. Without looking at my trusty map is KM 21 after Rocky Point heading south.

Thanks

Nope! The checkpoint is on MX HWY 2 going to Caborca about 18 miles from Sonoyta. Rocky Pointe is south on MX HWY 8....You can still get your all-of-Mexico permit at KILOMETER 98 on MX HWY 15 just south of Emplame. However you must have your tourist visa (FMT) for yourself and spouse in order to get the permit for your car and motorhome. So park behind the gas station, little shopping center, on your right before you cross the border in Lukeville. Walk across the border and on the right you'll find the place to fill out the paperwork for your FMT. Once that is done, you take it across the street and pay the bank and then back to the office on the other side and they'll stamp it for you then you just walk back across the border to your rv and off you go. Hope this helps you out.

For the many Canadians who may not be seeing the local (read close to
Mexico) US news, be advised to check on increased crime activities "South"
this year, and travel (be aware) accordingly.

The Escapees forums are a good place to check on what's going on - several
members are full-time MX residents, as well as those who vacation and/or
part-time in MX.
