my 6 mo old cat is very vocal. he talks and natters all the time to his sister, to birds, to flies to himself. he cries when we are outside and he is inside. why are some cats so vocal and others not. its really cute to listen to him, I wander what he is saying.

Perhaps he's part Siamese? One of our cats is 1/2 Siamese and is talkative as all getout. At least I know where hers comes from.

My dd had a really vocal cat, cried to go out, cried to come in - it about drove me crazy. My kitties rarely meow; the baby will talk back to me when I am talking to her.

That cat is part mountain lion! If I had a cat like that I'd get rid of my Dobe and Weim! It would EAT them!

Dawg is only vocal when he's pissed off at us. We occasionally leave him home alone for a day or two and he really tells us off when we return. He's also noisy when he has a mouse. He'll come up to the house making very strange noises, then show us his catch.

Ours is a round black cat with no Siamese features either - except her talking! The shelter we got her from knew her origin, and that her mother is a Siamese, so we know she is partly, but no resemblance!

Had a few that would talk, nothing like that one PO'ed kitty in in the cage..

Scruffy, gone now 7 years would ask to go out while standing at the back door, as does Tiny now.. it is a plaintive meow..

Basset on the other hand will carry on a conversation with me.. I ask and she answers, or sometimes other way around.. Tired to teach her Spanish,, she didn't get it,, but Scruffy understood a few words of it.
