Much sympathy from my 2 cats and me. Allow yourself to grieve, and don't sweat it if somebody foolish says it was ONLY a cat. You know better! When I lost my dear Runt back in 99, a friend drug me off to a cat show. It was the best thing for me, I was grieving more than I knew was possible. Anyway, in addition to the show cats, there were many shelters there with cats up for adoption. My friend didn't tell me that-I bet she knew though! One of the cats there reached through my grief and touched my heart. I adopted him on the spot, he is now 11 years old and my best friend. My girlfriend reminded me (because I was reluctant to adopt again and face hurt and loss again)that I had given Runt a good and loving home, that there were so many more that needed a home that I owed it to Runt for the love she gave me in her short life to adopt another. I don't know how I would have worked through the grief without my Bobby's love. I'll say a prayer for you and Mantha kitty.

So sorry to read about your "Mantha". We lost our precious Sabrina, better known as "Boo" in May at 20 years of age. We had lost her sister, Tiffany two years ago at 18. They were so much a part of our lives, and we miss them terribly. They learned to travel with us in the Motor Home at an advanced age, and both traveled very well. Sabrina loved the MH. She was 20 but did not look it. We took her to the Vet and found that there were internal problems. She died less than a week later. Do you know "The Rainbow Bridge"? If not, I could send it to you. It helps to think about them waiting for us.

Once again, thanks to all the RV.net members who helped me to deal with this grief and early on - the uncertainty. We had an extremely busy weekend (Dodger stadium tour, double baby shower, bbq party, church) and this week we're getting ready for our 11 day end of summer camping trip so that helped a lot. Also headed to a wake for a distant family member of my hubby - so that helps put some things in perspective as well.
We are probably headed to the pound when we get back from our trip and will save a little (or young adult) life and have a new companion. Since i'm home a lot (stay at home mom, permanently disabled) the house will feel really lonely when the kids go back to school and it's just me. Gotta have that companion that listens to me talk all day! lol! or sits on my scrapbook papers while I work on my books.
I shudder to think of what my friend and neighbor would have had to deal with had she come upon my Mantha either very sick or dead while we were gone and she was checking up on her. I think that would have been a lot harder as at least we were able to love her and say our goodbyes.
Hindsight is 20/20 as we look back now and NOW recognize the signs - she stopped jumping up to her favorite spot on the couch but picked a lower one instead. things like that - little and unnoticeable at the time so I really feel that she would have suffered more had it happened when we were on vacation (11 days) and would have been alone.
And yes, please send me the Rainbow Bridge. Never heard of it. will put it in my scrapbook that i'll be making of her.

So, so sorry for your sudden loss. Your stories of Samantha’s "antics" are very comforting. Hopefully, they will bring a smile to your face every time you think of her.
Let us know of a few more as time and your healing permits. They are cathartic for all of us.
Best wishes to you and your whole family. The paw print is a very nice touch and Samantha "Mantha Kitty" will appreciate it very much.
Regards,
Dawn & Kevin
PS: Your new kitty will help immensely with your healing. Although, we know that your lost Samantha can never be replaced in your heart.
We lost Persalina, our 15 year old Cocker, May 12, 2008. Now, we have Chloie, 6 months, and she is a trip! There are still those times where our hearts still ache for Persalina too.

Truer words have never been spoken! Between 2/06 & 9/07 we said good-bye to 4 furbabies (3 were elderly but a younger one was taken within 2 days by a sudden disease). Although our hearts still ache for each of them, we've since adopted 3 new family members and there's no better medicine to heal a broken heart then being woken up by sloppy kisses and a wet nose in your ear (by the dog of course, LOL)

Just something to think about from someone who has done quite a bit of volunteer work for several rescue groups - kittens, puppies, young cats and young dogs are the first to be adopted from shelters and rescue groups.
Please don't just pass by the more mature animals, especially those 5 yrs and up. They, too, can bring so much joy and love to our lives, and they are most often the ones who will languish in a shelter or the first to be put to sleep when there is no more room. The older animals I've fostered and placed (and those that I have adopted over the years) seem so appreciative of a second chance for a good life.
Please, take the time to look at all the animals, regardless of age. You will find the one, be it a kitten or an adult, that is right for you.

Hey - Bailey right? We use to email a lot but time and busy-ness happens. I Remember? You had 4 dogs at the time, lost the one and then you got another one. Send me a PM and catch me up!

Of course i'd never rule out a grown cat needing a home. However, with kids in the house they do want the little kitten again - so that will be hard to talk them out of that. I would prefer a grown cat myself as it would be easier to train with the "do's and dont's" of our house.
