Myrtle Beach Travel Park gets our vote. Stayed at Pirateland which was nice but like the other two of the "big 3", golf carts and golf cart drivers who pay no heed to no one. MBTP was nice and relaxing and close to the beach. Ages in my party were 73, 49, 45 and 14 and all had a great time with no complaints.

If you don't mind the golf carts, our vote is definitely Ocean Lakes. All pull thru sites, choose your site, great amenities.

We just left MBTP last week. We stayed mid-way between pool and beach and site was perfect. I booked 6 months in advance and was suprised to see so many open sites. There was at least 20+ open sites around us. The beach and pool complex were great. Kids(8,6,4) all had great time. A friend stayed at Oceanlakes in June and his complaint was crazy golf carts. With small kids, I prefer no carts so they can ride their bikes and I can feel comfortable. also, no carts made it so quite at night. The sites are roomy enough for any size RV and many in the sunny area had a wood canopy built above the picnic table that provides more shade. The restrooms were super clean and the store carries everything plus 24hr super walmart is 1/2 mile down road. I will go again next year. For anyone who rents a car, there is an enterprise 3 miles away as well as one in Walmart. Having the indoor pool was nice to get out of sun for awhile. Excellent resort also located close to Broadway by Beach and Barefoot landing.

Ocean Lakes and Pirate Land are both nice parks and are huge in the number of sites. When we plan a trip to either one it is in the late fall, October or November time frame just because of the all the kids on golf carts. There are several of us that plan multipe trips during the year to MB since it is only a two hour drive for us. The number of golf carts running around all day and all the careless driving is too much for us. The ocean side sites are real nice and you can hear the ocean if you leave your windows open.

We too are planning a trip down to MB next year in July. We have a 12 year old and want to make sure she (which means us) is happy and entertained. We were thinking of Pirate Land but with all these reviews will check out the others.

Hello there, we have been traveling to myrtle beach for many years, seeing I live near the beach about 2 hours north of myrtle I prefer to be away from mud and dirt. I guess it depends on what you like, im not about mass confusion so im all about seperation. I have stayed at the KOA in south Myrtle beach for many years, I have a 34 ft TT with 2 slides, there deluxe sites have a gravel pad, concrete patio , and a deck over looking the water. .So on rainy days I dont get washed out and need all kinds of things to keep mud out of RV. We tried Lakewood this past week with some friends I hated it, It was almost impossible to squeeze my TT into the site because the golf carts were everywhere,,kids on bikes, nobody gave you any room, Thanks god the lady next to us was still hooked up to her TV she was 1/2 way on my lot and I had no room to open awning, The KOA is about 2 blocks from beach and ocean blvd attractions, ill walk 2 blocks before i go thru that nitemare at Lakewood. Every nite its like paradise point on golf carts up near the beach. I liked the KOA staff, very friendly, there store was adequate, Miniture golf 1 block away and easy access. Coming off of 31 onto 544 down to Kings hwy was no joke,,traffic was rediculous. We did the KOA in June, and we did our 1st and last time at a Beach RV park in August, we will make our fall and winter stays back at where we like at the KOA, 30 bucks more for a week stay for less aggrevation is worth it for me, I go RVing to get away from crowds, I like shade and a nice outdoor environment. So everybody has differnt tastes as mine is away from main stream no control areas. Good luck

We have been camping at OceanLakes over 25 years. The best amenities for your money in Myrtle Beach.
We also take our golf cart and love to 'drag' down OL boulevard every night! We make our reservations 18 months in advance every year.

I am at Ocean Lakes right now. You can check this link to see what I say
Testing Ocean Lakes

So, now that OL has online reservations and you can see dimensions of the site, it should be easier finding a site. I have never gotten anyone on the phone and only email response that no sites available in the past until this. Also, there are tons of empty sites here now, but just they have a 4 night minimum in season so you'd have to call to move sites I imagine.

The one poster mentioned people coming around promoting their religion at Lakewood, and although it is a religious theme, I have never had this happen to me.

Just an FYI if you want to book these resorts for next July I would suggest calling NOW. I was just able to get an Ocean Lakes site for July 2009 when I called about 3-4 weeks ago.
