I would like comments / info on your experience with Heartland 5th wheels in general and specifically the Sundance. Also the Keystone Cougar 5th wheel.
I am interested in quality of work and materials and serviceability and service received if any.
I have been researching these two trailers and the Heartland trailer really has some interesting features and the construction really looks to be great.
Thanks for you help.

After a two year search looking at every mid profile 5'er on the market, we decided on the Sundance. While the Cougar is nice, the Sundance offers a lot more features for the money! We wanted 16" wheels, shocks, larger frame and a slightly taller bedroom, the Sundance meet our requirements and is well built with excellent factory support. I encourage you to go Heartland owners forum, establish a log in and ask questions of Sundance owners.

I searched for 2 months for a high quality mid profile fifth wheel last summer in my price range and bought a Sundance.
IMO, the Sundance is one of the higher end units on the market in a mid profile. Lot of option and standard equipment you won't see on many of the competitors and the service you get from the dealers and factory is great. I compared the Sundance to 3-4 other mid profile fifths and the extra headroom in the bath and bedroom area is what sold me on the Sundance more than anything.
I've had mine for just over a year and never had to take it back to the dealer for anything, I did a very thorough PDI and made a list of all the little cosmetic items before delivery I wanted fixed. The only issue I've had so far is a small weep from the corner of the shower stall and I fixed that myself in less than 10 minutes.
If you haven't yet, check out the Heartland owners forum.

In the price range, I believe the Sundance to be at or near the top.

Have had our 2997bhs for 5 months. Have had a few problems with fabric finish that has been fixed ,and ceiling fan replaced from defects. Our dealer and factory has ben good so far. We watched our unit built at the factory. All in all we like our unit it is very comfortable and cozy.

If your looking at those two and you like the Sundance then give the Crossroads Cruiser a look, too. They have a luandry list of add-ons you can get and are priced similar to the Heartland.
I think the Heartland is superior to the Cougar in factory support and R-values/build if you are choosing between the Heartland/Cougar units only.

Cougar is at the bottom of the Keystone line.
Ranking from their corp office is as follows:
1. Big Sky
2. Montana/Everest
3. Mountaineer/Challanger
4. Cougar/Outback/Laredo

So is Cougar a poorly built trailer? Or just not quite as good as Big Sky? I looked at a 2003 Cougar with 2 slides, and it was very nice. The cabinets seemed really solid. IT's the 1st used RV I considered buying.

I found the following database of rv ratings very helpful. The list is in alphabetic order so I imported it into an Excel spreadsheet and sorted by rating # to make it more useful for me.

My wife and I looked at the Sundance yesterday along with the Wildcat. The Sundance is way more trailer in my opinion than the Wildcat and about the same price.
The one we looked at that we really liked is the Heartland Big Country but I am afraid the one we liked may be to long to park where we need to park it at home. I have to do some follow up on it before we make a decision.
It was kind of like the wife found this one and looking any further is a waste of time. This may be a history making event.
I appreciate all the input. Thanks
