How do you get the concertone out of the wall?

The front plate pops off and there are 4 screws holding it in.

Or, with a drill and a 3/4-inch bit right through the center of the unit (power unplugged). Then get your sawzall out and cut, cut, and cut away that piece of junk until you have about 2,000 pieces left over. Then package it all in a box and ship it away to Concertone so they can have some spare parts on their shelf. I am sure they will use them.

I recommend the first way if you are not as frustrated as me with it.

I have a concertcrap unit in my 2008 PUMA. Having similar issues - lots of static when watching DVD, and terrible reception on the radio - my truck can pick up 8 stations where we camp and the trailer tuner can't even get one! I haven't tried any fixes yet, waiting for the fall when I get it back home, don't want to ruin a camping weekend monkeying with this thing.

I had the same issue with my Concertone and the dealer replaced it without any questions. Don't let them buffalo you. The problem is in the unit. Mine started out only on DVD, then progressed on to the satellite and radio. It finally became unusable.

Jayco replaced ours without question. Just to make sure, they even sent a complete set of 6 speakers with the new unit (Memorex) to the dealer, and they replaced everything without charge.

Whew, we were within 6 weeks of the end of the 2 year warranty.

Everything works great now!

Go to CRUTCHFIELD and check out the car stereos. If you want DVD they have in dash units. Most will have RCA line outputs that include SUBWOOFER out. No you won't get "surround" sound. Granted you will need to add some amps but the results will be far better than any OEM such as Concertone.

Crutchfield does great job of listing all the features if unit has subwoof out it will be listed. There is other ways to get a subwoofer feed, some equilizers also have sub out, many car indash stereos will have sub output. Granted the outputs are line out but none the less it really is possible to replace the OEM stuff.

Also you could go to a CAR AUDIO outfitter, I am sure they could fix you up with a killer system that will make you forget all about that surround thing.

I replaced mine with a JVC head unit. here is a link to the post with some pics.

Mine was staticky originally on the inside front speakers. the replacement was no good right out of the box. and the final replacement lasted almost a year untill it just stopped working altogether. that was in the spring of this year, and when I did the JVC mod.

Good luck!
