We've owned our TT for a year now. Our PU we owned previously didn't lock, so the lockup thing is new to us. Well, as you may have guessed, while camping this weekend, we locked ourselves out. I suggested we go to the CG office and ask for assistance. DH reminds me that the truck keys are in the camper locked up with the TT keys. Well DH thought about prying the door open, but decided not to ruin the door that way. So, the only other thing is to try a window. Our TT has a small window that cranks out next to the larger (ha) emergency exit window. Well, DH is not a skinny guy, but he's not a really big guy either. We were able to pop the little window open and then he reached in and unlatched the emergency exit. He stood on the ice chest and proceeded to climb through with me "assisting" behind. After alot of laughing and me egging him on, he did finally get through, but I plan to take an extra key and hide it some place so it will be there if this happens again!!

I keep a set of the motorhome keys in the toad and a set of the toad keys in the motorhome. I would think I would not lock myself out of both at the same time!

If you have a TT that has an accessible area under the bed that goes to an outside compartment, then just about anybody can enter it. It seems that there are only a few different keys for outside compartments and main door locks for that matter (not the deadbolt lock). One of our friends was locked out of theirs, and another friend used his key to unlock the outside compartment that was under the bedroom. Then ANOTHER friend crawled into the compartment, lifted the bed up and came out the bedroom door.

We had just gotten back from Florida a few years ago and I started to get our stuff out of the camper. The lock would not turn with the key. At that time I had a bunkhouse so I opened the rear access door and crawled through. The door would not open from in inside either. I took the inside part of the lock off and there was a 1-800 number. So I called it the next morning and the lady was very knowledgeable on how to get the lock open. She sent a new lock assembly with keys for $20 something dollars. It arrived in about 3 days. When we bought our present fifth wheel used the dealer had misplaced the keys. So knowing what I had learned previously, I took the lock apart from the inside and got the model number off the lock and called the 1-800 number again. The very knowledgeable lady sent keys to fit it and they arrived in 3 days for about 4 dollars. I didn't tell how to get the lock open on purpose, but it's got something to do with a drilling out the lock from the outside where the key would be inserted. The two locks I worked on both had the 1-800 number inside the lock mechanism along with a model and key number. Hope this helps.
