Hi Ya'll:
Does anyone pull this combo? My Nissan Armada is a 2008. I'm looking at the Hyperlite-21RB which has a dry weight of 4600#.
I pull in the Rocky Mountains and am wondering what the gas mileage will be. I'm at 18-19 solo in the mountains.
Since the Armada is said to be tow frendly up to 9,000# I'm not worried about ability-just gas money to do it!

I tow a little over 7000 lbs. and usually get 8-9 mpg. That's also on relatively flat ground.

I get 14.5 solo in rolling hills and 7 towing on flat interstate. I don't know how you get 5 more solo in the mountains, but maybe you'll get 5 more towing. (But I doubt it)

I tow a right at 6000 lbs, and get 8-10 mpg average. Unhitched, about 14-16 mpg. We went from Suburbans ('95 and '99) to our current Armada, with no real difference in fuel consumption. Of course, towing ability is much more important to us than mpgs--I've never heard anyone brag about the fuel efficiency of their Suburbans or Armadas. If you can coax 18-19 mpg out of your Nissan in the mountains, let me know how to do it--unless it involves coasting!

OK-Fellows:
I just got back from a road trip from Conroe, Texas to Kemp, Texas and return. The purpose of the trip was to make a final decision on
purchasing the Hyperlite in my previous post. It was about 360 miles round trip.
This was the first road trip I have taken in my 2008 Armada. The miles I have driven up until today have been urban driving around Montgomery County. I now have 11,000 after this road trip.
The trip consisted of Interstate and some 2-lane rolling hills driving. Average speed was about 60 mph.
The meter read 19.3 mpg when I pulled into my garage. This was with
summer blend 10% ethanol fuel.
In over 60 years of driving, I have learned a few things. Jack-rabbit starts and stops cost money. Coasting up to red lites doesn't!
Driving 10 miles per hour over the speed limit costs money. Driving
with cruise control set at 58-61 mph is usually in a "sweet spot" on
on most cars. That's 1500-1700 rpm's on the meter on this vehicle.
Now next week, I will be picking up my new 2009 Hyperlite and driving it back to Conroe. I'm anxious to see what penalty a 4600#
trailer will impose.
I'll let you know after the trip!

We are wanting to buy an Armada. We tow a 2002 trail lite. It is 27 foot and has a slide. I will watch this post close to see what you think about your tow vehicle.
