I think PiPi is all Moto only (aka Elkins Flat????) unless PiPi is actually Gold Note (all quad trails).

There are two riding areas very near PiPi, and the trails are connected.

One is moto only. The other is moto or ATV.

I do not recall the names of the areas. I think Elkin's flat is one of them. I do not recall the other, and I am too lazy to go look it up.

There are other forums that are better resources for finding riding areas. I like www.thumpertalk.com.

Get yourself a recent California OHV tri-fold map. They have them at most riding areas like Prarie-City, Carnegie, etc. It shows all of the federal, state and local ohv areas and what is and not allowed. The Sierras are dotted with riding areas. Some weekends we close our eyes and pin the tail on the map to a new location in the sierras and then check it out.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
We ended up trying out Eagle Lake trail. It's a jeep trail with a couple of different destinations. Eagle Lake route was okay to the lake, although very rocky. Then we tried the Fordyce Creek Trail - later found out it's rated "10" by the jeepers. Only got a little more than one mile before chickening out. The entire area is big rocks requiring better controled "throttle" action than I apparently possess. DH rode the 2-wheel drive quad and managed to climb the rocks with effort. DD rode the other 4-wheel quad and managed to high center a couple of times as well as almost tip over due to bad choices on tackling the route.
There's also a route to Signal Peak from the other side which the trail map says is "harder" than the other route but doesn't define how hard.
But it was a beautiful area.

Fordyce Creek Trail. . . isn't that the Rubicon?

I've never been there. . . definitely well beyond my capabilities. . . and my pocket-book!

My WR250R is my first motorcycle, purchased in March. I have ridden at the local county ORV park once before going to Cisco Grove.

My first ride was up to Signal Peak. I wouldn't say it was easy for a first time 55 yo rider, but I did it.

I did not do the back side of Signal Peak. My son did and enjoyed it all the way down to the campground at Indian Rock at I80. Probably not a good place for me.

I rode many of the fire roads that were within range of my gas tank. I did not think the road from Cisco Grove to Fordyce Lake was at all difficult. Going past Fordyce might be. I turned around at the lake.

Fordyce Creek Trail is different than the Cisco Grove road to Fordyce Lake. The Fordyce Creek trail is accessed off the exit that Indian Rock CG is on.

Rubicon is similiar to Fordyce Creek, but two different locales. Sierra Trek is Fordyce, Jeepers Jamboree is Rubicon.

Gold Note is quad and moto, Elkins is Moto Only.

Bob,

I have the same TH as you got. Are you able to fit Rhino and bike? Rhino, bike, and mini for 4yo? Mayeb the mini could go in the Rhino bedspace. if not in back of truck I geuss.

At my local county ORV park, though we can only ride one person on the X2, no one is allowed to use a side by side at all.

YEP, the mini goes in the Rhino bed, the bike goes in first and turned around to face the rear of the TH, then the Rhino. Tie down the Rhino then the bike gets tied to the front bumper of the Rhino.
PITA, but it works. Usually the bikes go in the truck.
I do NOT have a lift kit or long travel kit on the Rhino, it barely clears the drop down bed.
Now back to the discussion, the Mammoth/Bishop area is a great place to ride, I have been checked for a sparkie on the D S Husky, but with minimal fuss.
