I was wondering if anyone knew of some good camping sites that are within an hour or two from Philadelphia, PA. I was trying some of the directory sites, but a lot of the camping sites seemed to have really corny places listed (like places with pools and activity halls).
I'm looking for a place for REAL campers and not some psuedo resort camping ground. Anybody have any suggestions or at least a good way of finding one of those campsites?
Thanks so much!

Are you looking for a CG or are you looking for backcountry camping?
In other words, are you backpacking or car camping?
If you're car camping, then check out the State Parks. Here's a link to PA State Park Camping.

Sounds like a state park is a good fit for you.
There are several in NJ and PA within an hour or so: Bulls Island (NJ), Brendan Byrne (NJ), Wharton (NJ) and French Creek (PA).
Locust Lake SP is a little further (maybe 2 hours) but one of our favorites for tent camping.
Check out the state park websites or search rv.net for more information.

Bucks County, PA (which is close to Philly) has a lot of small county parks you can use for tenting or SMALL trailers (<17 ft). Out of county residents - 15 bucks per night. MOST but not all of the parks have modern restrooms / showers.
