We have our stem glasses hanging with bubble wrap between them and the regular glasses in trays with a thin cushion between them. Over 5K miles with nothing broke.

Our plastic cold drink and foam coffee cups I keep in a cabinet in a "lazy susan" type holder that came with a set of the plastic left-over containers that I purchased at a discount store. Our "good" cold drink glasses are actually made of acrylic (can't tell from clear glass at first glance) and our "good" coffee cups are ceramic "Waffle House" mugs, (complete w/logo) that I store in a cabinet with dividers that I made from 1"X2" wood strips. Haven't lost/broke one yet!

New or used?
It takes quite a bit to gross me out...
...but you just succeded!
(reminding myself never to take up an offer from a camping neighbor to "stop by for a drink"!)

I use the tube socks to protect the bottles in my "medicine" cabinet.

For our wine glasses we use some soft foam can cozys for pop/beer cans which we carry anyway. Other glasses we simply wedge together and sometime will add a layer of paper towel to keep down rattles. We also use some telescoping rods across the cabinet shelves to keep things from falling on us as we open the doors the first time after travel. Remove upon arrival and reinstall when ready to go. Takes seconds and saves much grief and dinged toes.

We just use the rubber shelf liner material to keep the glasses and everything else in place. Lots of miles and nothing broken yet.

I too pack the cupboard to the point where nothing can fall over
You could use a shipping carton to stack 'em in (one of those "egg Crate" things)

I stack my plastic tumblers, lay the stacks on their sides, and put rolls of paper towels on top. I have glass stemware in new, never-used tube socks, lying in a basket that's inside an upper cabinet.
