We stayed at Casey's Camp in Spenser Bay at Moosehead Lake, Maine this summer. We had 3 non-hookup sites for 3 nights, and they charged us an additional $10 to dump the tanks in our camper that was at one of the sites.

You better hurry and take that trip, the price of fuel is coming down. You could offset some of your fuel cost by allowing us TC folks to dump in your holding tank/s. My bet is at $20 a pop, you could do quite well.
I was concerned that you had dumped your fuel tanks.
I have often wondered how many people had a Tote tank, to carry additional waste. Then, my next thought was where would you carry a full tank.
Wayne,

Smart move Britt, I have trouble with bio growth and it is cooler here than where you are. I use a product called Killem and it works well.
On the subject of dumping, I have a blue tank on wheels but only take it along if I have my boat and the TC is going to be off the truck five or more days. I saw a guy hook the handle of a blue tote over the ball of his hitch and try to drive to the dump station. Well it didn't stay on at the first small bump and fell to the ground spliting open the tank. You know the rest. I hand haul it after seeing that.

Am I the only one using a 5-gallon bucket with a toilet seat sitting on top? Insert kitchen trash bag, deposit bodily waste, remove bag and drop at nearest dumpster or trash receptacle. I add kitty litter and Aqua-Kem - so no smell. Sorry, but I just hate the idea of hauling around a tank full of sewage - and then wondering how I'm gonna get rid if it. My method is simple and cheap - no RV dump required! Oh, I should note I'm single male so no female or family traveling with me. Otherwise, this would most likely not be "acceptable"!

unbob, someone actually markets a seat with a bag that mounts into a receiver hitch. I saw a picture of this setup once in a magazine. Not very private but might work for you in the middle of nowhere.

You're kidding me! Yes? Besides, the 5-gallon bucket works great and has many other potential uses. I store the kitty litter, Aqua-Kem and TP inside the bucket.

i don't see any way for someone to dictate what another should charge for a service. have you ever looked at the plans that go into "plumbing" a campground? imaging your leach field and septic tank for your house then multiply x 100 sites or more....different for each campground.... now do the math and try to figure hom much that cost the campground owner. and he only wants 20 bucks to use this luxury .there are different circumstances for every business. If you don't like the price - MOVE ALONG or better yet......walk to the outhouse
