tvman44, apparently you missed the OP's statement that they CANNOT have a dish at the S/B house due to trees. To let it sit idle and use it only for camping would be a big expense, depending on how long/often you camp.

Our DirecTV pkg. runs ~$60/mo, so only the OP would know if it's worth it. Other options, especially if you are only out camping on weekends, would be to record games at home (assuming you have cable or something there) and stay away from all media till you get home to watch. LOL!

Or, be very selective in choosing CGs w/ cable. Depending on how important football is to you, the greater distance and cost (fuel and cable CGs) might/might not offset your decision.

Good luck. I feel your pain. As a rabid NFL fan, I (not my DH!) plan weekend travels accordingly.

the dish pay as you go system would work perfectly for you but other than ESPN monday night football, I doubt you would be able to pick up much other pro programming unless you wanted to spring for an expensive NFL package. unless you get the RV waiver and want to watch LA and NY football, or whatever national channels are available.

One note to Fryer5's suggestion: I have found that the range for the digital channels is MUCH less than the range for the old analog channels on our bat-wing antenna. We have the converters and they work at the stick home. However, they don't work as well right in the driveway and we had no reception at all at the nearby campground. This means we will have no local channels as of next year. Something to think about. Maybe a different antenna will fix the problem.
