When I built my barn/garage, it was too far away from the house septic system so I built a small septic system for the barn. It is large enough to handle any RV use and was not very expensive to do. Most towns allow a homeowner to do their own work as long as the inspector approves it. I also connected the sewer connection to an extra RV "Site" with full hookups. Over the years guests have used and enjoyed the spot. I ran a 3/4" black plastic well pipe with softened well water to the barn and drain it in the winter.

I built a barn that matches the design of our home. We store our 30' coach + 2 classic cars. The very best feature has been that we do not have any mice in our vehicles! I hate them and their messes. We made sure that all the walls and doors create a tight seal that keeps them out. Our concrete floor sits about an inch and a half higher than the apron and the doors swing tight against that lip.

if money is not a problem, i would at least get a quote on putting in an oil changing pit... have it run the full length of your motorhome... even if you have someone else change your oil it still would be nice to be able to easily get under your coach for inspection purposes.....
sorry i hadn't read the complete thread before placing my reply, an earlier post already has made this suggestion

Good idea--I recently added a MIL bedroom & bath to my home and had no way to connect to existing plumbing (on a concrete slab) so I purchased that system---works beautifully. Would work well for motorhome.

That makes sense in that kind of situation. But if it's just for the motorhome, for that kind of money you can get a macerator system. It could then be used anywhere, and not the usefulness of the investment would not be limited to just the home dump station.

If you do your own maintenance don't skimp on the lighting. I thought I was good to go when I did my hangar shop and ended up redoing it with twice as much lighting. My eyes are not as young as they used to be. Good luck and I hope it turns out great for you.

Maybe, depends on your needs. It's not "that" much more and it will pump faster than you can drain your tank using the 3". So, a) You don't wait forever b) The full flow of a 3" opening cleans the solids out of your tank way better than a macerator. I have both.

A lot of times I find myself wishing I would have added a door to the rear of the barn, for flow through ventilation.

Regarding sewer connection, where should it be located? In the barn? Smelly. Outside the entrance door? Then you have to move the coach out to dump it. Or, away from the barn altogether to keep smells at bay?

I have an indoor dump in our garage. Smell does not last long. Just open front door and turn on exhaust fan in garage. The smell comes from the MH waste tank vents not the dump conn.
