For the last few weeks, whenever I try to 'pre-view' certain posts, the pre-view box just flashes on & off. Other posts on the same forum (Tech Issues) display the box normally, except that ALL the pre view boxes have suddenly streched to about 3" high, empty save for the brief preview. I'm using an IBM 600X laptop running XP Pro. Six weeks ago, everything was normal. Now, it's all confused.

There are 8 portals that can be used to access the Open Roads Forum. To my knowledge only one of them, Woodalls, is having the preview box issue. The techicians are aware of the problem, but have not provided a solution. There are two things you can do about it.
You can switch to one of the other portals. Here is a post that contains links to all 8 portals.

Or, you can turn off the preview box on your preferences page.

Pulsar - thanks for the info. I have moved to the Motorhome Mag portal and everything is honky-dory. (another mystery phrase - where'd it come from?) All is well in my world now - you hit the screw right on the head.
