It has been two weeks since we returned from our drive to Des Moines RV. There have been no unpleasant surprises since we picked it up.

This past weekend it took out for a pleasant stay in the local mountains. Having spent the last six years in an entry level RV, this was a great experience. This was home away from home. My wife and daughter may have spent a little too much time inside enjoying the awesome 5.1 surround sound system. As comfortable as the Seneca is, there were trails, trees and vistas just outside.

I start this montage of pictures with a few we took when we picked up the Seneca.

This is me. My trade in on one side and the new Seneca on the right. It was a very hot and humid day.

Plugged into our campsite at Timberline Campground.

Timberline Campground is only 15 minutes from downtown Des Moines. We highly recommend them.

Our campsite at Mount Laguna where stayed this past weekend.

The Seneca grill. Positioned a bit high but it does a good job. There are better grills.

How you might set up the dinette if you are playing Clue.

The living room. The in-dash CD doubles as the DVD player for the entire coach. However, you can add a different DVE player to the 26" over the bunk.

The very comfortable leather couch which is has a fold out sleeper.

The decorative backsplash, one of the new features in the 2009 Seneca.

That's all we've got. Contact me through PM if you are interested in more pictures. Seeing the coach before you buy it is one of the challenges of buying through RV direct. The Seneca is a high end RV and it appears to be built with more quality than other coaches.

Good for you guys! You owe it to yourselves to get a little reward for all of your hard work! And you picked our favorite brand, too. Keep us posted. Good pics!

I have a few years before we retire and purchase an RV. From all my research we've pick a Seneca. It's nice to see good reviews and the wife will like the new back splash! (she does a lot of cooking). When the numbers are right (or when we get to 60), which ever comes first, we're "out-of-here" (New York). We want to see the country and friends. Only 1,161 days until retirement. Not that we're counting !!

Thank you for the wonderful compliments. To mm-and-steve: you don't need me to tell you that New York state has some of the most majestic national parks in the lower 48. Not to mention the fact that New England and the mid-Atlantic region is absolutely brimming with historical sites, culture and natural beauty. I'm a strong advocate of patience and temperance when it comes to buying an RV but if I might advance one little bit of advice: consider starting sooner rather than later.

In case you are wondering, the backsplash serves no functional purpose. If you look closely at the picture with the stove, you will see that the stove has a cover. The cover is jointed and folds back into a locked upright position. The stove cover is the actual backsplash. In my opinion, this is a bonus. It means the decorative backsplash requires nothing more than an occasional dusting. The stove cover completely shields the backsplash.

I also noticed the backsplash and thought they put it on the wrong wall. The side wall on ours is the only one that can be a pain to clean after frying up bacon on the stove.I wonder why they did not put it on the side wall that way not only would it give a touch of class to the kitchen it would be functional as well.

I agree, billystoys. Extending the backsplash along the right-hand side of the stove would add to the visual appeal and be functional. Maybe next year's model will have it?
