Hi All,

My family has had two wonderful camping weekends in our new Rockwood High-wall PUP. Both times I was surprised by the trickle of water coming out of the shower head when I'm showering. I've noticed that the lower the shower head the better the flow, so with the kids its not that big of a deal. Just wondering if this is normal or if we should have our pump looked at. We are still finding small issues that either we are fixing or feel the dealer should get involved in.

Thx.

You should have good flow. Is there a restrictor in the shower head? How is the flow other places? Maybe a kinked line somewhere.

do you have an outside shower or hand washing station? If so, make sure the water is turned off using the knobs and not just the button on the shower/hand wand. For some reason when I forget to do this, my pressure goes nuts.

From you having mentioned your pump, I'm assuming you are using your holding tank vs. a 'city water' hookup. I have noticed my water pressure is lower when using my holding tank/pump than when connected to city water via hose and pressure regulator.

I also use a water filter on my hose, as I've had sediment coming from campground spigots (they've made piping repairs and didn't open all spigots to clear accumulated sediment).

Does your Rockwood have the in-line water filter? We had the same problem with low water pressure and the pump cycling rapidly after a couple of trips. It turned out to be the filter being plugged. You may want to try removing the filter and trying the shower again.

Thanks all for the help. We have not camped without being hooked up to water, but I assumed there was a pump getting the water from the hookup to all the points (toilet, sink, shower) in the camper. As a newby I may be wrong. We're going to check the lines to make sure there's no kink as well as take a look at the filter.

Thanks.

when your using 'city' water, the pressure from the water is what distributes it thru your plumbing. Your pump should only be on when you do not have a city water connection, and you are using your fresh water tank as your water source.

If you are connected to 'shore' water/city water you dont need to use your water pump. Most of this will apply whether you are on city or using your pump.

It is important to know if you are only experiencing low pressure in the shower - as someone posted - check the hand sprayer knob. It is on the back side of the hand sprayer itself.

It is possible that the handheld handle is clogged too.

If that is fully open (move it both ways to check) and still no pressure, unscrew the hose from the faucet. Put your hand or a washcloth over the outlet and turn it on. It should blast out.

If that doesnt work, Turn off your water outside. (Important!)

You may have a bad faucet. Dont worry, faucets are less than $12.00 and are very easy to replace. On the back side of the shower wall where the faucets are located, there will be an access panel usually held on with 4-6 screws. Remove them. This will expose the faucet and hoses.

Be sure your water is OFF outside. Remove the hoses first. You can check the faucet by pointing the hose into a bucket and have someone turn the water back on outside. If you have water now, it sounds like the faucet is bad.

If that doesnt work, your have a problem with the line from the source to the faucet. You need to trace the hose to the incoming source.
