We arrived for our weekend around 7 pm on Friday. Got set up in no time and just chilled. The campsites were fairly level and large. Lots of grass(ps that DID need to be mowed. We spent Saturday just chilling. There were numerous games of horseshoes played, along with badmitten and volley ball. Lots of time spent just conversing and sitting. We had a rainshower Saturday evening that chased everyone into individual campers for dinner, but other than that it was nice. I loved sitting in the quiet drinking my coffee in the morning. Nothing stirring except me and the pups. There was one small issue I had with our sites, well two. We had 4 families camping together, and while our sites were numerical in sequence, one was actually out of the circle and around a corner. Not far distance wise, but it was a bit inconvenient for the occupant of that site to haul cooking supplies back and forth. The other issue I had was that our picnic table was on the back side of the trailer. The tent pad was immediately behind. Granted, an undisturbed view of the lake was nice, but it was a bit inconvenient to have to haul the stuff around the camper.
We like this campground and will probably go back, but we did take a tour to see if we could find enough sites right together with good lake access(for the boat).

Is that West Point in MS., GA. or somewhere else? I have found that most of the older COE's and SP's are set up that way.

We've been to Schaefer Heard (COE) in West Point and if you haven't been there, you should try it. I'm not familiar with Holiday Campground. Also,I was told there is another COE campground called Amitty.

Southern Peach - We've been to Shaefer Heard, and I preferred it to Holiday. Could be just the sites we had or the fact that it was our first camping trip in a really long time! I did like the site we had last weekend.

Hey, don't tell anyone about Amity! It's been one of the best kept secrets on the lake. It's already getting hard to get a campo-site there ever since they closed State Line.

Lately, we've been going to R Shaefer Heard. They have a number of reservable, and non-reservable double sites. R Shaefer has everything from heavily wooded to well grassed and open sites, most on the water. Once they finish the new I/85 exit at the Kia plant, R Shaefer will be real convenient to the interstate.

I wish the COE would upgrade the electric from 30 amps to 50 amps. Some of the old 30 amp posts are getting worn-out and you have to watch your voltage.

We prefer R Shaffer Heard.
The sites are larger, and land scaped.

Also there is a grocery store and Walmart close by.

I have pics below.

The sites in the 100's are great if you have a boat.

Last time we stayed at R Shaffer Heard we had site 80 that was a double site with decent lake access (better for a jet ski than boat, though.) Looking forward to getting out there before the end of the month.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Juan
