The specs I have say the Roo 21SS has a dry weight of 3,498 (3,288 if it's 2003-2006 model), with a GVWR of 4,753. How accurate is this? I am comparing the Jay Feather EXP 19H at UVW of 3,565 & GVWR of 4,750 & the Roo 21SS with a slide. At those weights (and allowing for options not included), I would prefer to get a 21' with a slide, over the 19'.

Thanks,
Dawn

I wouldn't place any faith in "dry weight" listed in brochures. Best bet, if you can't weigh the trailers, is to see some first-hand and check the stickers inside the cabinets for UVW weight, which is likely to be fairly accurate. At least some companies weigh each trailer when it comes complete off the line (not sure if Jayco does this, but Forest River does), and that's the figure that goes on the sticker.

From our experience with our HTT, I'd recommend assuming that the trailer will weigh very close to its GVWR when loaded for camping (including fresh water). Ours was within 200# of GVWR when we weighed it.

I'm at least a couple of hours from any of the dealers that I'm considering, so I was hoping I could get some approximate weights with the options, such as air, etc. added. If my information is far off, I may need to reconsider the 21' & start researching in a different direction again.
thank you,
Dawn

Let's hope some owners of these trailers reply to your response in the HTT forum. Since double posts aren't allowed here, the moderator will probably close one thread and direct people to the other one, so no worries. Anyway, owners should know if their GVWR is correct as listed. Only go by GVWR with a hybrid, not the dry weight, as I mentioned.

Thank you. I appreciate your response. Yes, I had a very lengthy question about the weights & towing & the tv, and when I went to post it there was an error on the page. So, I shortened it and sent it quickly. After the fact I realized my question no longer fit in here.

My original concern was that with a Chevy Trailblazer V6 with tow package and max towing capacity of around 5,600, the 21SS might be too much if the specs I had from the web were inaccurate. We are looking at upgrading the tv, but not for a couple more years.

If the numbers you're quoting are accurate (GVWR, that is), then the trailer will be really close to your TV's limits. Doable, but not fun. (Been there, done that, traded up.)

From the looks of your original question. Looks like you are looking for the weight of a 2003 - 2006 21ss. If you are I apologize for taking up space here. If you are looking for the newer models. I have a 2008 the dry weight posted on the door under the sink is 4725 pounds.. The GVWR is 6500. If you are asking about the newer models I would say no to pulling it with your inline 6 cylinder TrailBlazer. My wife has a similar GMC Envoy. I would never dream of trying to pull the TT with it. Way too much weight, and wind resistance when going down the road.

Yes, that's my problem. I have a hard time believing the accuracy of the GVWR listed on the web site of 4753 for the Rockwood Roo 21SS. As far as that goes, the Starcraft 21SSO's have GVWR of only 5000. Would be interested to hear from owners of either of these brands & models on what the actual GVWR is.
Thank you,
Dawn

The sticker from inside our '07 21SS shows a GVWR of 6,559# and a UVW of 4,242#. Hope this helps. Feel free to email or PM me with any other questions. -Brad
