We are new to toy haulers and are looking to buy a new 2007 Cougar 310SRX. There is a place that we called upon and they are asking 29,900 this includes the 5th plate installed. What kind of price offering should we be looking at? I would like to know if there are any other owners of this model and if they like it, also if there are any known issues with this '07 model?

Hi Case,
we have had our 08 310 since Feb 08. We love it so far. We haul a bike and a quad without issue.
Problems I've had: I had a freshwater line failure. From the factory they used hose clamps instead of the proper screw fittings on the main pressure line where the inlet line goes into the pump. Easy fix. The Cabinets needed some reinforcements to hold anything heavy. The cabinets aft of the Fridge are not supported by the floor. (pull a drawer and you'll see) I have also had to add insulation to the Front Cap area (cubby hole) and under floor. There was no insulation on the other side of the cubby by the headboard. Polar package is mainly for the tanks and NOT for the bedroom.
Additionally, check the tag on the freshwater tank capacity. Some models are 60 gallon (like the brochure says) and some are 41 gallons.
Pros: Tows great! Brakes work well (I use a Prodigy) Lots of room inside with a nice layout for both toys and guests. Weight is good. Heat and A/C work well. Plenty of good lighting. The laundry chute is a nice touch.
Cons: Cabinets could have used a little more "craftsmanship". The bent metal tubing supports for the ramp, toss them out. Get some plastic bed risers (target) they work much better and are easier to use. Cold weather insulation needed. No heat vent in the garage. This is not a full timer unit. No ladder for the top bunk.
AND check the Fridge and make sure the dealer does the SBH recall mod if the serial numbers match the Dometic list.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Billyayle for the information on what to check for the water tank, cabinets and the fridge.
There must not be too many other owners of this type of trailer on this forum. I like the fact that this trailer is not as long and tall in height as most of the other types of trailers.
We own a Ford F250 V10 with the camper package and brake system.
Still looking for any input on what price to pay for the 2007 or 2008 Cougar. On checking the net pricing on these models the dealerships further away have a lot cheaper pricing than locally. Trying to get pricing before we really start dealing over pricing. Saw on a dealers web that the 2009's are out, figure we should be able to get the '07 or '08 cheap...

I bought a 08 320SRX, and we paid a little over $30K w/ tax and tag and hitch back in April(sign the contract in Feb, slow season), my "boss" did not like the color scheme of the 310SRX but the 320SRX is different. however we could have save $2000+ more if we take a drive to Indiana.
The dealer in Indiana would have sold me the 310SRX for $2K less than the 320SRX($25,500). Again, this is Feb..... The snow is still on the ground and temp is around 20 and the wind is blowing hard. They were motivated to sell.
we like our separated bathroom setup in the 320SRX better.

I bought a new 2008 310SRX last December for 23,900.00 So far we're happy with the unit. As stated by others it's not "top of the line" quality but then it doesn't have a "top of the line" price tag either. Good value for the money. I purchased the hitch separately.

I bought a new 2008 310srx in aug 07 for 22,400 plus 6 percent MI sales tax. Total was under 24000 out the door. No BS charges. Bought at lakeshore in Michigan. Tough to beat thier prices. I have used my fiver for OVER 70 nights this year. Hauled it to FL for 7 wks this past winter with my scooter in the back. Love it. No issues. Bob

I bought a new 310 SRX last April. It is my first trailer. It came wired for a generator so I went and had the dealer sell me an Onan 4kw gas gen and roll it into the deal. Of course I had to install it myself.
When I bought the trailer I was pretty set on this model. The list was something over 40K. To start the haggling I asked the salesperson for a computer and showed him what Lakeshore RV wanted for the same model on ebay. We then calculated the shipping charge (~$1 per mile round trip) and told them thats what I was willing to pay. Well, he took the offer to his manager and came back within $1000. We ended splitting the difference. I got my trailer for what I believe was a fair price. A more aggressive stance may have gotten the price down somewhat, but I wasn't really interested in milking every dollar from the dealer. If you are close to Lakeshore, by all means consider buying from them. If not, go to your local dealer and try this approach.
So far it has been pretty decent and comfortable. It tows great since it is relatively light compared to full size toy haulers like the Raptor 3612, and it carries all the Bikes I have. Check Billys posts as he has some great mods and suggestions.
So, eleven hundred men went in the water; 316 men come out and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb.
