Well Art there is no rating tag on any ladders put on trailers, and I know that OSHA would red tag every RV ladder on the market that are attached to RVs, I have seen some at a RV show that are made of steel and rest on the roof of the RV and side and they lift off to store when traveling, now the look very strong to me.

I was heaver than that once (not now) but my last TT held without a problem. I broke one of the rungs when i used the bike rack that hooks over the rungs. after a year or so of towing, one of the rungs came partly out and i had to repair. Had two bikes on the rung rack and hit a bunch of rolling bumps.

I weigh 240 lbs. and have used my roof ladder in emergenicies while camping, but I didn't enjoy it. For one thing, it's very narrow for me. When at home, I use a 10' fiberglass stepladder to access the roof.

I use it and don't trust it. I start with a 6 or 8 ft. ladder then use roof ladder, but am not comfortable with it.

I used the factory installed ladders on all of my RV's. I say factory installed because if the RV didn't come from the factory with a ladder, there is a good chance that the RV didn't have the required bracing installed to support an after-market ladder that you or a dealer may install.

I weigh around 260 and the ladder on my Springdale is as solid as a rock.

I use my factory ladder without a problem and I'm around 240. Had occasion to attempt to straighten a bent ladder (upright backed into solid object), those things are stout.

My ladder is stickered for 300# max - it's made of 1" tubing and the way it's attached that is pretty strong. As a general purpose ladder it might not meet OSHA standards I suppose - but it's a fixed ladder with a single use. For heavier loads I'd be most concerned about the attachment to the roof eventually working loose. However if you climb it "gently" that could be minimized.
