At 6'3 250lbs I can tell you that the Atwood brand ladder I have on my previous and new camper both flex a bit, are narrow and not my favorite. However, they are sturdy enough to support me safely and use on a regular basis for roof inspection and cleaning.

I hate heights and trust the ladder so I guess that says something......I think....

Mine says 300 pounds but I sent my 120 lb son up the ladder and watched the thing bowing, and the the screws bending. I refuse to use it.

If I have a choice I prefer to use a real ladder if I absolutely need to get up on the roof. I weigh 175#. I try my best to stay off the roof unless for a needed repair or twice a year inspection.

Same here, hate the heights... I know the ladders look weak but my worry all the time is how much can the roof really hold?

Once up there I don't feel very comfortable while I'm there... anyone have an answer to this?

I learned long ago, that folks my size (6'5" and close to 300 lbs) should never climb much of anything. They are never designed for us. I pay the dealer to play monkey.

I might climb up the ladder to look but i wont use it to get on the roof.If i need to get on the roof then i pull a real extendable ladder from underneath.

Ours says 300# also. I climb 2x to clean the roof and once each trip before I pull in the slide. It has some flex but no more than some aluminum ladders I have used at home and at work. I weigh about 200#.

I weigh 250 and have never hesitated to use factory installed ladders to climb to the roofs of all my past RVs. Unfortunately my current 5er doesn't have a ladder, so it's the extension ladder for me now. I'm really getting too darned old for any climbing -- stairs are bad enough. Maybe my next unit will have an elevator to the top floor -- the penthouse patio.

My ladder is stickered for 300# max - it's made of 1" tubing and the way it's attached that is pretty strong. As a general purpose ladder it might not meet OSHA standards I suppose - but it's a fixed ladder with a single use. For heavier loads I'd be most concerned about the attachment to the roof eventually working loose. However if you climb it "gently" that could be minimized.
Mine also has a rating sticker at 300#. Seems to be rather sturdy.
