Hey all,

We just picked up as new toy hauler and had the chance to take it out on its maiden voyage last weekend. We couldn't wait to get out camping in our new rig.

For our first trip we choose an Outdoor world campground in Gettysburg. The excitement quickly faded into nervousness and regret.

We pulled into the campground about supper time on Thursday and slowly pulled into a loop looking for a spot. At first we found a spot we thought looked good but we were quickly met by someone obviously trying to save a spot for his buddy. We would have had plenty of room for our rig,but he decided he would try to intimidate us into picking a different spot.He said we didn't have enough room for our 38' fiver. Not wanting to argue after a long day at work I took off looking for a different spot.

The next thing I know some drunken loudmouth started mouthing off about our fifth wheel being way too big for our truck. My wife tried to say something to the guy,but he all he did was get louder. By this time 9-10 of his drunken buddies were standing around acting like a bunch of know it alls.

As I'm walking back to move our truck,I see the liquored up loud mouth standing next to my trailer. He yells out for all to hear "this trailer weighs 18,000lbs, you must have more money than brains trying to pull this with that little F350!" I don't know where he got the idea our fiver weighs 18,000 lbs. As a capper,he decides to spout off about our hitch as well.

By this time my wife and I were frazzled. All we wanted was to try out our new rig,and we got greeted by almost a dozen drunk rednecks.

The loudest, drunken, know it all dillhole, finally had enough fun I suppose, because he slowly staggered back to his rig with all his buddies cackling like Hyenas the entire way.

Just for this yahoos information, yes we know our current F350 is a bit overmatched, but we're waiting on our new F450 to be outfitted with its new hitch.

For those wanting to camp at ODW Gettysburg, beware of the Drunken Dozen!

So we finally hear of two forum members unexpectedly meeting !!

To the OP, I hope the rest of your visit to Gettysburg was a good one. Where is ODW Gettysburg ? Is this the Gettysburg Battlefield CG on Steinwehr Avenue ?

No...it is definitely NOT Gettysburg Battlefield Resort...been to both and it's can't compare to GBR (of which I'm a member). It's called The Farm and here is it's location just north of Hanover

The Farm
