I need to stay in Bluff to see Monument Valley, Hovenweep, etc. and wonder if there is Verizon Cell coverage in that town. There's Cadillac Ranch and Cottonwood CG's and those guys don't know themselves, saying "Gee, I ain't never had no cell phone, so I don't know".
They all say they have WiFi, but I can never trust the signals in most parks, so I use my air card when traveling.

Jeffe, I did look at the coverage map, but as you know, it's not that accurate. That's why I always ask the CG operator this question.

I did not get a Verizon signal last time I stayed at Cadillac Ranch. I drove north to the top of the hill and parked on the shoulder and managed a weak signal. That was 2 years ago, so it may have improved.

Ah, why should a campground operator be expected to know about coverage via a company that you contracted with?

We had a good wifi connection last October at Cadillac Ranch. Got cell signal at top of hill going toward Blanding. Also had good wifi connection at Gouldings in Monument Valley.

Lyn, surely you jest? But for those who might ask the same question...it's quite important in my decision where to stay. By not knowing about coverage, a CG operator can use a lot of business because some of us might go elsewhere. Ask the CG owner up the road from where I currently am staying. He didn't know the answer either.

When we were in Bluff area staying at Cadilac last Aug., we didn't have cell service. When I was making reservations and the lady was giving me campground directions, I said I would call if I had any questions. She said my cell wouldn't work on Indian Reservation land coming into town. It wasn't working the whole time we were sight seeing. We didn't have a computer at that time.

I've been able to get ATT coverage in Bluff -- course that's not Verizon, is it. And when we were there last fall, the Wifi worked great for us.
