We found an '06 Baja that seems to be pretty loaded with A/C,indoor shower potti combo, furnace, fridge, awning etc. Asking price is $8600 which is below book. We have to go out of state to get it and plan on camping the night we get it to work any problems out before coming home. What do I need to hook up at a campsite with? My truck has a brake controller already. The dealer sells Husky brand sway and weight distributing hitches. I was wanting Reese. Is the Husky a good brand, I had planned to tow it home without it and install Reese stuff at home; but if the husky stuff is decent then Ill buy it from them. I have talked to folks with my possible Baja/truck combo that dont use sway or weight distribution and they have no problems loaded up so I was thinking an empty trailer shouldnt be bad then. My truck is a '08 Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Go ahead and install the Reese at home. If you've got a brake controller already, then you are set. Good luck!

The Baja tongue weight partially loaded (no load on deck, 2 propane bottles, battery, water tank filled) is 300lbs. The trailer weight with same config is about 2900 lbs. You shouldn't have any real problems towing this way. But definitely get a weight distribution set up because anything on the deck and the tongue weight goes up quick.

The trailer has a cord and plug for a 30 AMP service, but you may need to pick up a pigtail to plug if the park power post has a different socket.

Enjoy!

I bought our trailer 2nd hand and the previous owner threw in his complete hitch set up. I thought it was a Reese because it looked like it. But, it is a Huskey. I've had it 4 years and it tows great and has no signs of wear. Previous owner used same hitch & towed accros country and to Canada and back 2 times plus other travels with no hitch problems. It does a good job transfeing whatever amount of weight to the front axle, by how many links you add or leave out.

I do not know if the Huskey is as good as a Reese, but in out case it seems very well built. Maybe do some searches on hitch problems & see what different ones say.

I use no sway bars or WD hitch and tow my 06 Baja 10C just fine. I do have a truck that can handle up 10,300 pounds towing and 3,500 pounds payload. If your Baja has a front deck I would try loading it and see what your TV does with it. Jayco's normally tow very well and sway very little. Remember to keep the Baja as level as you can when hitched up. Good Luck with the new Baja.

We've got a 10C and when I was looking to get ride of my dually, the FJ Cruiser was going to be the t/v.
I really wanted a new Jeep Rubicon but they don't have the tow rating.
The Cruiser should be fine at (I believe) a 5000lb tow rate and the trailer max (again,I think) is at 4,400lbs.
As far as the sway,I'd try it before I just threw $$$ at it.

Going out tommorow to get it. We will come home with it sunday. Will be about 700 miles home with just brakes. I plan to take it easy and I will be getting the Reese hitch setup once home since I plan on a toolbox, generator and other stuff on the deck so it will be kinda heavy once loaded.
